Wesley’s eyes were unpredictable, staring at the lady’s delicate face, he said flatly, “You don’t have to worry that somebody will be against you. As I said before, as long as you obey me, you don’t have to worry about other things.”
His remark sounded overbearing and made other people feel safe, but it was actually a satire for Harriet.
In fact, he didn’t mind at all what impact it would bring to the rest of her life, so he could say it so easily. Anyway, he could simply drive her away as soon as he felt tired of her in the future. Did she still have leeway to bargain with him?
Harriet was emotionally exhausting; she leaned in the back seat of the car, closing her eyes and did not speak another word.
At the same time, in the Jones family’s mansion.
In the bedroom, Sandra’s face turned livid as she looked at the information found out by the private detective.
Sure enough, Colin was indeed the child of Allen’s ex-wife!
Not only that, he and Harriet actually were siblings. It was really ridiculous that she actually tolerated these two people appeared in front of her for so long!
She dropped the information file to the table. Gritting her teeth, a sneer curled her lips.
There was movement outside the door, it seemed that her daughter was back.
Sandra tried her best to subside her anger and calm down. After sorting out and locking those information in the drawer, she went downstairs.
“Is dinner not ready yet? I’m starving to death!” Louisa sat on the sofa, yelling while dropping the handbag from her hand.
Not knowing where her daughter came back from, she guessed that she most probably stayed together with Colin. Sandra was filled with anger, scolded her to her face, “Are you still in the mood to eat? Don’t you see how Wesley treats you now?”
Louisa was scolded by her mother once she went back, so she didn't have a good tone as well.
“Isn’t he just having an affair with another woman outside? You’ve said that it is just a game between him and that woman, why are you becoming so anxious now?”
Sandra was boiled with rage, “It’s different for this time. He is telling you that the Jones family is not his only option and he doesn’t have to be with you only. If you continue to behave like this, he really will break off his engagement with you!”
“Just let him do it. It doesn’t mean that I can’t marry without him,” pouted Louisa indifferently.
Sandra was so angry and felt like giving her daughter a slap, but she put up with her in the end.
“Louisa, listen to me, you should find a chance to have a good talk with Wesley. Take more initiative and don’t let him really be blinded by the temptresses outside.”
“I won’t go…”
“Louisa Jones!”
Sandra suddenly increased the pitch; Louisa was startled, and then the stern scolding from her mother was heard.
“You have to marry him in any case. Don’t think that I’m unaware of what you have announced in your social media recently. Let me tell you, we won’t accept anyone else as our son-in-law except Wesley. You better break off with that poor guy as early as possible, otherwise, don’t blame me for being cruel to you!”
Louisa was stunned with her eyes wide-opened, and for a moment she didn’t dare to retort.
In her impression, her mother had never been so harsh on her.
Surely she and Colin couldn’t overcome the difficulties and be together?
…
Time flew and a new day came. Early in the morning, Harriet was awoken by Molly’s phone call.
“Harriet, the fat’s in the fire now. Hurry and take a look at today’s entertainment news headlines!”
