Chapter 5
Anika went back to her room and swallowed a handful of pills.
She touched the back of her ears, only to find some blood there
She recalled what the doctor said Ms Carey, your condition is highly dependent on your emotions Your
have to keep calm all the time. Be optimistic and stay tough during the treatment.
Being optimistic was easier said than done.
Anika tried to avoid thinking about what Joshua had paid
She leaned against her pillow and closed her eyes.
She didn’t even fall asleep when the sky was awake,
But her hearing did get better, thanks to the medication.
Anika was looking at the sunshine that went through the window mindlessly
“It stopped raining.”
It was never a single matter that made one decide to give up on another.
The last strow would finally break a camel’s back Anika had been disappointed for too long. Even a few
harsh words or a trivial matter could serve as the trigger
Joshua didn’t leave the house this morning
Instead he sat on the sofa, waiting for Anika to apologize and take what she said back.
Anika lost her temper a couple of times in the past three years
Yet she apologized every single time she did.
Joshua believed that she would act the same this time.
Then Joshua saw Anika walk out of her room in her usual dark outfit, dragging a suitcase and holding a
piece of paperwork in her hand.

Anika handed the paperwork to Joshua. He then realized that it was a divorce agreement.
“Joshua let me know when you are available.”
With that. Anika left with her luggage.
Chapter 5
Anika was greeted by the clear sky after the rain.
For a moment Anika felt that she was reborn
Yet Joshua was dazed on the sofa, holding that divorce agreement,
He couldn’t believe what had just happened.
He just realized that Anika was gone when she finally disappeared.
Joshua felt upset for a few minutes and then he recovered. He didn’t take Anika’s gesture seriously.
She would come back to him anyway All it took was a call or a word from him. And when Anika got
back, she would play up to him even harder.
It would make no difference this time.
it was the first weekend after the national holiday.
Usually, at this time, Joshua would take Anika back to the Conan’s residence. They would visit Joshua’s
family together.
Joshua would always be looked down upon by his family members for having such a wife.
Finally,it was just him.
Joshua found the upcoming trip pleasant. He even drove a car himself.
On the way back, Joshua felt so relaxed He never felt this way before.
The Conan family was grand. All family members would go back to the Conan’s residence, totaling five to
six hundred people.
Joshua had 70 to 80 peers at his age. Many of them were talented young people.
Joshua could stand out among such a large group of peers. That was quite telling Joshua was no
average.
He was decisive and determined His peers and even his seniors were in awe of him.
That being said, they still gossiped about Joshua.
As the chosen one, Joshua ended up marrying a disabled wife who once tricked him… That was quite a
nice piece of gossip among the family
Rachel had been waiting for Joshua in the Conan’s residence
She had a few words with the servants.

“Don’t take Anika to the parlor.”
If it weren’t for the family rules that the wife of the eldest of each generation had to be present, Rachel would never let Anika step into the residence.
However, Anika didn’t show up this time.
Rachel walked over to Joshua and asked, Joshua, where’s Anika?”
Anika denied it when everyone else said Joshua was drowned to death. Against all the odds, she went to
was in hospital, cooked his meals, and even treated people around meticulously. She wouldn’t risk offending any
of them.
Why?
“Indeed Joshua is so talented that his talent shouldn’t be wasted by the Carey woman.”
“Every time I met Anika,l always found her ungraceful.
