Dear Ex-wife Marry Me novel (Maja) novel Chapter 1040

Maja scrutinized the pair before her. The DNA test results lay between them, a testament to their shared blood. Phelps, who held no personal grudge against her, had been supervising the whole process. There was no room for deceit.

The hair sample was provided by Maja herself and collected by a trusted member of the Rosewood Manor staff. Betrayal was simply not a possibility among Grandpa Holden's carefully selected team.

When Clara noticed Maja lost in thought, she assumed it was about finding them a place to stay.

"Maja, we're not picky," Clara began. "You're a CEO, so you must be living in a mansion, right? Take us there. We've traveled all the way from Crystalbrook Valley," she continued. "We've had a long and nauseating journey only because we wanted to see you."

Clara and Drew looked elated, seeing Maja as their personal cash machine. Their daughter had been embraced by a wealthy family and was now a successful CEO. Back in Crystalbrook Valley, they could barely make ends meet.

Clara tried to link arms with Maja to show intimacy, but Maja stepped back.

The DNA test results still served as a glaring reminder of their ties. Spectators had already turned their attention towards them.

Maja took a deep breath. "I've been quite busy recently. Let's talk about it later."

Clara and Drew were immediately displeased. It was clear Maja was trying to postpone the discussion.

"Fine," Clara snapped. "If you want to delay, then give us a million dollars first. We've traveled a long way, and we're exhausted. We need a comfortable place to stay."

Maja found this absurd. Who spent a million dollars just for accommodation?

"I don't have that much money."

"Maja, we're trying to reason with you," Clara warned. "Do you think we enjoy arguing with you? Your brother needs your help. He was wronged. If you don't give us the money or help him, we will sue you!"
