Ryan gave him a dubious look. "Cousin, some folks are saying Maja was planted by your side on purpose. I don't believe it."
Ian didn't respond, and his silence was deafening.
That night, he couldn't sleep a wink.
The very next morning, the doctor came with news. "Holden wants to speak with you."
At this point, Grandpa Holden had been moved to the ICU.
Ian and Ryan donned protective gear before entering the room. Holden, straining to keep his eyes open, gestured for Ian to come closer.
Ian moved in closer, the scent of disinfectant in the air. He listened as Holden spoke, each word a stubborn utterance.
"Ian, don't be with Maja."
That sentence was essentially a death sentence for Maja.
Until now, Ian thought what he saw the night before was a misunderstanding. He believed that Maja wouldn't harm his grandfather, regardless of the reason.
But now, with Grandpa's words, it was clear that she indeed wielded that dagger.
"Grandpa, what's really happening?"
Holden let go of Ian's hand, staring blankly at the ceiling with a bitter smile.
"Don't be with Maja."
Ian didn't feel pain, just a firm grip on his grandfather's hand.
"Ian, swear to me."
As Holden said this, his whole body began to tremble, his hand shaking in Ian's grip.
He wanted Ian to swear not to be with Maja, but Ian couldn't say it.
All Ian could do was hold his grandfather's hand tightly, his eyes calm.
Holden started coughing, the veins on the back of his hand bulging.
He lost a lot of weight, over 20 pounds. After forcing out those words, he closed his eyes.
Visiting hours were only ten minutes.
These people were the hardest to trace, especially since they always avoided security cameras.
Ian didn't respond, just stared out the window, his brows furrowed.
"Ian, what did Grandpa Holden say?"
Ian's hand tightened at his side, his voice hoarse.
"He told me not to be with Maja."
"It's strange. Wasn't he the one who adored Maja the most before? Or did he discover some truth during his disappearance, like Maja having ties with these people, trying to dig out secrets from the Raymond family? After gaining Holden’s trust, she extracted those secrets and planned to silence him. And if you hadn't been bitten by that snake last night, those guys would have had difficulty escaping. And the snake was given to you by Maja."
Every detail pointed towards Maja.
But Ian didn't believe it.
Fitch gave his shoulder a reassuring pat. "Steve took leave, should be here soon. Probably heard about the Raymond family's situation and about Grandpa Holden. The Raymond family might have to be ready for the worst."
If Grandpa Holden passed away, there would be no real proof against Maja.
Ian rubbed his temples and called his people, instructing them to track Maja's whereabouts.

The readers' comments on the novel: Dear Ex-wife Marry Me novel (Maja)
Author, would you story about Ryan settling down and another story on Eric regaining his body and memories back from Patrick, and Eric also settling down as I find it so disheartening for him to have gone through what he went through at the research institute, and I'll like for him to get his "golden boy" life back though, not at the detriment of Ian....
When will the author update to finish Beck's story? What about Dylan and Tyler's love lives? Also, I'll like the author to write on Wilma and Elvis ending up together as she was quite persistent in pursuing him. And Shawn's story, Cornelia Sullivan and Omar Casson. Also, a little write-up on Jeff (Ian's assistant) love life, too. Thanks, author for updating....
When will get update?...
What is wrong that the author has not updated this novel in over a month or is there somewhere else that I can continue reading the novel from chapter 1951 upwards? Do tell, please. Thanks....
