Dear Ex-wife Marry Me novel (Maja) novel Chapter 1080

Ryan gave him a dubious look. "Cousin, some folks are saying Maja was planted by your side on purpose. I don't believe it."

Ian didn't respond, and his silence was deafening.

That night, he couldn't sleep a wink.

The very next morning, the doctor came with news. "Holden wants to speak with you."

At this point, Grandpa Holden had been moved to the ICU.

Ian and Ryan donned protective gear before entering the room. Holden, straining to keep his eyes open, gestured for Ian to come closer.

Ian moved in closer, the scent of disinfectant in the air. He listened as Holden spoke, each word a stubborn utterance.

"Ian, don't be with Maja."

That sentence was essentially a death sentence for Maja.

Until now, Ian thought what he saw the night before was a misunderstanding. He believed that Maja wouldn't harm his grandfather, regardless of the reason.

But now, with Grandpa's words, it was clear that she indeed wielded that dagger.

"Grandpa, what's really happening?"

Holden let go of Ian's hand, staring blankly at the ceiling with a bitter smile.

"Don't be with Maja."

Ian didn't feel pain, just a firm grip on his grandfather's hand.

"Ian, swear to me."

As Holden said this, his whole body began to tremble, his hand shaking in Ian's grip.

He wanted Ian to swear not to be with Maja, but Ian couldn't say it.

All Ian could do was hold his grandfather's hand tightly, his eyes calm.

Holden started coughing, the veins on the back of his hand bulging.

He lost a lot of weight, over 20 pounds. After forcing out those words, he closed his eyes.

Visiting hours were only ten minutes.
