After hanging up the call, Ian set off to his study to deal with some business.
He forced himself not to think about Maja's affairs, but then Maria called.
"Mr. Raymond, I've been trying to reach Ms. Pennyfeather but with no luck. I'm worried."
Hearing this, Ian felt like hanging up the phone right away.
Because whether it was Maria or anyone else at Star Movie Group, they all suspected Maja's disappearance was connected to him.
Maria knew about Holden's demise but was unaware that it was caused by Maja. Now, she was worried about Maja.
Ian was not the kind to stir up trouble at such a critical moment. He did harbor resentment towards Maja, but he wouldn't expose her faults to Maria.
"She’s on a business trip, and she’ll be back soon."
After saying this, he hung up and continued to look at the documents in front of him. But then Maria called again.
"Mr. Raymond, Coco, and Rocky seem really down, especially Coco. Whenever Ms. Pennyfeather is away, Coco won’t eat or drink. Coco adores you. Would you like to take Coco to Greenfield Gardens?"
Ian took a deep breath, but it felt like it never came out. He felt suffocated as if his mouth was filled with the taste of blood. He had to hold it back to prevent himself from coughing up blood.
His eyes turned red due to the anger he felt.
He even began to cough.
"Mr. Raymond, are you feeling unwell?"
Ian's hand leaned on the desk. After a while, he replied: "When I was out of the country, how did you take care of Coco?"
"At that time, Ms. Pennyfeather would often come back to see her. Even if every visit was brief, Coco became more clingy after a close call with danger."
The thought that Coco was left by that man and that she was so concerned about Coco because of Eric.
Because of Eric.
He lowered his eyelashes and said, "That's okay. Coco will soon like someone else more."
After saying that, he hung up the phone.
Maria looked at the phone in confusion, not knowing what he meant by that.
She paced anxiously on the spot and asked the other people at Rosewood Manor.
"Did Ms. Pennyfeather call any of you?"
But everyone shook their heads.
Clearly, Maja had not contacted anyone in the past few days.
Maria was worried, fearing that something had happened to her.
But could Mr. Raymond ignore it if something happened to Ms. Pennyfeather?
She frowned and finally called Carol Miller.
Before Mr. Raymond returned home, Carol had visited Rosewood Manor once. Maria knew that she was Maja's best friend and the heiress to the Miller Group, probably the only socialite that Maja knew in the circle.

Is author playing with our emotions?...
Why are there no updates yet, Author. We've all been waitibg for quite a while now. Please, update soon, Author. Thanks....
Author, my thoughts on the book. When are You going to write on Cornelia and Omar Casson's romance? You made no mention, describing in detail how Maja and Uan's white wedding ceremony went. Also, you didn't write on Carol's baby delivery. What about Tyler's romance. Is there closure on Phelps Herrington being truly certified dead, so also his twin brother? Dylan's research institute "little girl", what became of her and Dylan's romance? Beck's blind dates, what were the results, is he married now, so also Dylan to his "little girl"? Why hasn't Ian's father- Steven come forward to meet Maja's parents as the in-laws meeting each other especially with his supposed past with Lillian; Maja's mother. I hope I won't remain curious for too long on the aforementioned issues, Author. Thanks for doing a good job on Zoey and Fitch's romance, though. Kudos....
