Dear Ex-wife Marry Me novel (Maja) novel Chapter 1117

Her face was as white as a sheet as she stared at the modest spread of food before her, her mind a chaotic whirlwind.

Carol quickly dropped to the floor, retrieving the scattered fragments.

"I'm not adding any drama to this, I swear. When I saw that car going up in flames, I was sobbing. But he just left, cold and indifferent. I mean, if he had even a shred of feelings for you, he wouldn’t have done this. Not to mention, he's been getting pretty close with Judith recently."

Maja remained silent, simply picking up a new spoon and continuing to eat her oatmeal.

She refused to believe that Ian would say such things, and even less that he would consider a relationship with Judith.

She could explain everything.

"Maja?"

Carol noticed her daze and waved her hand in front of her.

Maja snapped back to reality, forcing a small smile. "There's a misunderstanding between us. I'll go and explain it to him."

Carol was at a loss for words, anger bubbling up within her.

"And if you explain and Ian still won't listen, what then?"

"Then I suppose it just wasn't meant to be."

She spoke the words, but the bitterness was starting to spread relentlessly.

Carol took her hand in a firm grip.

“I have some free time these days. I’ll be there for you. If Ian can’t appreciate what he has, we can surely find someone better. Don’t worry, I’ll introduce you to some reliable guys. Shawn Walsh is pretty decent. At least you won’t have any negative emotions with him.”

Maja knew Carol was trying to comfort her, but she didn't know how to respond.

Thankfully, Carol didn't press. So, for the rest of the meal, Maja quietly ate her oatmeal.

When they finished, it was ten in the morning.

Her body was still uncomfortable, her palm wrapped in bandages. Being around Patric these past few days had been pure torture.

But then she thought of the gentle Patric. What if something bad had really happened to him?

What if the gentle Patric was gone and all that was left was this madman?

Carol's phone rang at that moment. It was Abner.

As soon as she answered, she could hear him interrogating her.

"I heard you've been dating some broke boy. One of my business partners saw you working as a waitress. Carol, you better come home and explain yourself."

Carol's heart skipped a beat. She stood up immediately.

"Maja, my relationship with Felix might get exposed. I have to go. If I'm grounded, I won't be able to leave. You know how my dad is. He loves to ground me. But he was really helpful last night when I asked him for help. This time I won't argue with him. If I don't contact you, it means I'm grounded at home. Don't worry about me."

Then she waved and headed out the door.

She was always like this, full of energy.
