The sparkle of surprise shone in Jolin's eyes, as she quickly nestled into his arms.
"Mr. Raymond, would you like me to peel you a grape?"
Her voice was soft, brittle.
Beck overheard the conversation and immediately realized Ian was not alone.
His heart tightened, and he felt a surge of resentment on Maja's behalf.
"So, you've moved on so quickly? Weren't you in love with Maja?"
Ian's fingers lifted Jolin's chin, his gaze icy.
"Not anymore. I've found someone more compliant."
Beck ran his fingers through his hair, "So, all those professions of love were just lies? God, Ian, you almost killed my brother and me over her. You've moved on rather quickly, haven't you?"
Ian said nothing.
Had he moved on quickly?
Not as quickly as Maja had, cozying up to Eric during negotiations.
So fast he could hardly keep up.
Even after all that, he had pleaded with her to stay, but she had refused.
Not only that, she had said some rather hurtful things.
All he could taste was the bitterness in his mouth, his tone growing even colder.
"Well, yes. But not as quickly as her."
He ended the call, tightening his grip around Jolin.
Jolin was elated, although the pressure around her waist was increasing. Soon, she began to feel a dull ache.
But she said nothing, seizing the opportunity to snuggle even closer to Ian.
Tyler sat not far from Ian, flirting with a woman next to him while reminding Ian.
"If you're into her, you should take her to Greenfield Gardens. She can keep you warm. Isn't it time to get rid of the stuff at Greenfield Gardens?"
"Indeed, it is."
He had stored a lot of Maja's things there when they lived together.
She had even occupied half of his wardrobe. And how long had it been since then?
The woman in his arms seized the opportunity to ask softly,
"Mr. Raymond, may I move in with you?"
Ian said nothing.
Tyler, sitting a few steps away, was somewhat surprised. He wasn't sure if this woman was overly ambitious or genuinely naive.
She said such things to Ian. Didn't that mean she wanted him to support her financially?
Yet, even those who were financially supported by Ian didn't have the privilege to sleep at Greenfield Gardens.
She was aiming for the position of the lady of Greenfield Gardens.
Tyler found it amusing, but then he heard Ian's response.
"Sure, if you behave, I'll give you everything."
Jolin knew that when he said those words, he wasn't looking at her but through her, at another woman.
But she didn't mind. She was determined to be his stand-in.
Ian hadn't drunk much that night. After a few sips, he let go of Jolin.

The readers' comments on the novel: Dear Ex-wife Marry Me novel (Maja)
Author, would you story about Ryan settling down and another story on Eric regaining his body and memories back from Patrick, and Eric also settling down as I find it so disheartening for him to have gone through what he went through at the research institute, and I'll like for him to get his "golden boy" life back though, not at the detriment of Ian....
When will the author update to finish Beck's story? What about Dylan and Tyler's love lives? Also, I'll like the author to write on Wilma and Elvis ending up together as she was quite persistent in pursuing him. And Shawn's story, Cornelia Sullivan and Omar Casson. Also, a little write-up on Jeff (Ian's assistant) love life, too. Thanks, author for updating....
When will get update?...
What is wrong that the author has not updated this novel in over a month or is there somewhere else that I can continue reading the novel from chapter 1951 upwards? Do tell, please. Thanks....
