Murray was seething, but dared not express his anger, and so was Olina. The thought of how Zoey used to keep their house immaculately clean and prepare meals for them without complaints, made the contrast glaringly apparent.
Now that Murray was married to Evelyn, they hardly even got to see him.
Olina lamented to Murray, but there was nothing he could do. Coupled with work-related stresses, he felt frustrated.
These days, he increasingly cherished the virtues of Zoey, the perfect wife and mother, so he couldn't help but wait for her downstairs at his office building.
When he saw Zoey, Murray almost didn't recognize her.
Zoey's style had become more elegant. Her camel-colored coat gave her an air of an aristocratic lady from the early 20th century.
His eyes lit up, and he called out, "Zoey."
Hearing his voice, Zoey showed a hint of disgust in her eyes, wanting nothing more than to avoid this conversation. She lowered her head, intending to get into her car.
But Murray approached quickly, his gaze sweeping over her.
"Zoey, it's been a while. You seem to have become more beautiful."
When he mentioned her beauty, his eyes shone even brighter.
Zoey, not wanting to waste her breath on this man, frowned, "What do you want?"
Murray knew he had overstepped in the past. He had abandoned her when their house was half-built, dumped her with the debt, and quickly hooked up with his boss's daughter. It was only natural that she would be cold towards him.
But didn't her cold demeanor imply that she couldn't let go of him?
Yes, they had been together for seven years, having known each other since their youth. Women, being sentimental creatures, tend to hold on to their relationships.
He sighed softly.
"Zoey, I didn't realize you took my words to heart. Your style is indeed more appealing now. I guess my marriage to Evelyn was a big blow to you. Seeing you like this, I find myself attracted."
Upon hearing his words, Zoey nearly gagged.
But Murray grabbed her wrist.
"I'm married now, yet you're still hung up on me. We were together for seven years, I know you can't let go. Zoey, I can give you a chance to stay by my side. Don't worry, I'll find time to be with you on weekdays, but I need to spend the weekends at my father-in-law's."
He was treating Zoey as a backup lover.
Zoey slapped him hard across the face.
"You're shameless, Murray. We were together for so many years, and I never saw through you."
Murray touched his cheek, his eyes glowing even brighter.
"Zoey, your anger only shows that you care about me."

The readers' comments on the novel: Dear Ex-wife Marry Me novel (Maja)
Author, would you story about Ryan settling down and another story on Eric regaining his body and memories back from Patrick, and Eric also settling down as I find it so disheartening for him to have gone through what he went through at the research institute, and I'll like for him to get his "golden boy" life back though, not at the detriment of Ian....
When will the author update to finish Beck's story? What about Dylan and Tyler's love lives? Also, I'll like the author to write on Wilma and Elvis ending up together as she was quite persistent in pursuing him. And Shawn's story, Cornelia Sullivan and Omar Casson. Also, a little write-up on Jeff (Ian's assistant) love life, too. Thanks, author for updating....
