Dear Ex-wife Marry Me novel (Maja) novel Chapter 1354

Tyler was not ready for the truth, and now the last trace of color had drained from his face. He refused to believe it.

Ian patted him on the shoulder, "Go back to the car and wait, the higher-ups will be here soon. Don't worry about me, Grandpa Bernard will give me a shot at escape. Tyler, see you next time."

But when was next time? No one could say for sure.

Tyler stood frozen, silent.

Ian had walked some distance before he spoke again.

"Check your phone later, see if it's been tampered with. Phelps is smart."

Tyler remained quiet, feeling weak all over, an invisible fear creeping up his spine like a moth trapped in a spider's web.

He knew nothing, not even that he was caught in a web.

He didn't even think to escape, just watched the predator draw nearer.

That sense of powerlessness, that loss, was indescribable.

When Ian returned to the yacht, Abner was still lounging in his chair, eyes half-closed.

There was no particular expression on his face, but the guards had all disappeared, a sign that everyone was wary of Abner's temper.

Ian walked over and kicked the lounger.

"Take me back."

Abner's squinted eyes slowly opened, followed by a smirk.

"What do you think this is, your backyard?"

"Weren't you supposed to dine with Ms. Dorothy? What's the rush now, heard about that dog you blinded and don't dare to go back? Afraid it might come back to bite and involve your Ms. Dorothy?"

Abner sat up slowly, eyeing Ian.

"You know where he is?"

He was referring to his brother, the only one who had narrowly escaped a certain explosive fate because he'd been elsewhere, though still wounded.

Abner feared the man because he was the most venomous, the very architect of his miserable life.

Abner had someone he cared about now, but Ms. Dorothy's calls still went to his bodyguard's phone, showing that he didn't usually initiate contact with his so-called Ms. Dorothy for fear of some unexpected mishap.

"In my underground fighting ring, take me back, I'll hand him over to you myself."
