Dear Ex-wife Marry Me novel (Maja) novel Chapter 1355

Phelps returned to his villa, the cool evening breeze whispering through the palm trees. As he pushed open the door, he found Maja curled up on the couch, a small, slumbering bundle.

He paused mid-step, a frown knitting his brow, and gently nudged her.

“Maja?”

Even in sleep, she frowned, and upon waking, she still felt weary.

“Dr. Herrington?”

“Why are you sleeping here? Go upstairs to bed.”

Maja sat up slowly, yawning and pointed to the cell phone on the coffee table.

“I’ve been calling Ian repeatedly with your phone. No answer. I’m worried something may have happened to him.”

“He’ll be fine. But you, you look pale.”

“Do I? I don’t know. The more I sleep, the more tired I feel.”

She leaned back, her eyelids heavy, seemingly oblivious to Phelps's words.

Phelps turned to the housekeeper standing discreetly at a distance.

“How much did you give her?”

“Sir, the maximum dose you advised.”

Phelps watched Maja’s face, then waved his hand in front of her eyes.

She looked up, offering a weak smile. “Dr. Herrington, what’s wrong?”

“Maja, just focus on this,” he said, pulling a shiny object from his pocket.

When Maja awoke, her body felt drained, which was odd considering she'd slept all night. Rubbing her temples, she descended the stairs to find Phelps lounging on the sofa, reading the newspaper.

“Dr. Herrington, aren't you going out today?”

“No need. I met with my contacts last night. Today, we relax.”

Maja grabbed his phone and dialed Ian’s number again.

“Maja, what will you do when you find Ian? What do you want to tell him?”

“To be with him, of course.”

“Do you remember the way you escaped? We could tell Ian, maybe revisit the place. See who exactly has been holding you captive.”

Frowning, Maja thought for a moment and then shook her head naturally.

“I can’t remember. I think their torture has left me a bit scattered. Right now, I just want to reach Ian.”

Phelps looked up, finally fixing his gaze on her.
