Dear Ex-wife Marry Me novel (Maja) novel Chapter 1392

Arlen hit the car horn with a casual flair. "My cousin's always been close with Ian, but this time the poor guy's got amnesia. And with Ian branded as a traitor, there's a whole mob out to get him. As for you, kiddo, just stepping into society, you should focus on getting yourself a nice pad before anything else. With your current bankroll, even dreaming about a prime location of your ‘villa’ is a tough ask."

Ryan instantly deflated, the gloom clear in his eyes.

Fitch quickly jumped in to console him.

"But hey, earning this much cash in such a short time is pretty impressive, Mr. Elston. At least you've shed that playboy image. How about we celebrate tonight with a drink?"

"Let's do it. I'm ordering the priciest whiskey there is."

"Deal, my treat."

Arlen's wrist sported a watch as he smoothly steered the car, looking more like the playboy than the now down-to-earth Ryan.

At the hospital.

Two hours later, Fitch was wheeled out of surgery.

Zoey immediately tried to approach but was pushed away by Mia.

"How dare you touch my brother? Scram! Take a hike and spare me the sight of you!"

Duke wrapped his arm around Zoey with a mischievous tone.

"Let's not stoop to her level, Zoey. She's got a brother complex."

Zoey felt a chill run down her spine and quickly stepped out of his embrace.

Duke's lips curled, his fingers itching to pinch her chin, but she turned her head away, her voice icy.

"Keep your hands to yourself!"

"Oh, I didn't know our Zoey had such a temper."

He teased her like one would a kitten, not taking her anger seriously at all.

Weak as one was, even their anger seemed laughable to others.

The rest had gone into Fitch's room, all waiting for him to come around.

But due to the presence of Mia, Zoey couldn't go in and was left waiting in the hallway.
