Dear Ex-wife Marry Me novel (Maja) novel Chapter 1534

That night, she was already experiencing pain in her belly, and Beck had called the doctor for a quick examination.

Upon waking, her skin had turned a noticeable shade paler.

No wonder the appearance of 00 felt so abrupt. It turned out Ian had been keeping secrets from her all along.

Taking a deep breath, she turned to Beck, who was sitting by the bed.

"Beck, have the international folks really not found the location of that research base yet?"

Beck frowned and shook his head.

Maja fell silent. If even the international folks couldn't find it, where on earth did Ian get his information? And he'd already jetted off to Astronia, certain that the people from the research base were there.

She raised her hand to massage her temples, her mind a tangled mess.

Suddenly, she remembered a man at the underground fight club mentioning something about “test subjects, two of them.”

One of them was Patric; could the other be Ian?

Yet, as Ian was meant solely to have a segment of ten years’ memories cloned, it wasn't likely that he underwent other experiments.

This thought sent a wave of unease through Maja.

"Beck, Ian's gone to Astronia, and he took a stand-in for me, someone who looks ninety percent similar to me."

Beck extended his hand, gently feeling her forehead.

"Maja, are you running a fever?"

Only then did Maja realize she was burning up, yet she couldn't stop worrying about Ian.

"Beck, if you can get in touch with him, let me know immediately."

Beck nodded and had the doctor give her an injection first.

Maja quickly succumbed to sleep.

With a tissue, Beck tenderly wiped the sweat from her forehead before calling Dylan.

"Dylan, I heard Ian's headed to Astronia. Could the research base be there?"

Dylan was investigating with Walter, who had just obtained firsthand information two minutes ago.

The research base was indeed in Astronia, but recent news on the international circuit cautioned against travel due to a terrifying epidemic.

If the research base was releasing information now, it was surely a ploy to lure people in.

Given Ian's smarts, he wouldn't rush into a trap unless he had received vital intelligence.

And this intelligence, Ian hadn’t shared with anyone.

Dylan's brow furrowed with concern. "Is she doing OK?"

Ian wouldn't have taken Maja to Astronia, not with her being pregnant and the place being ridden with disease.
