After confirming a few connection points and their approximate locations, he headed back.
He took a shower in the bathroom and upon opening the cupboard, was surprised to find a couple of sets of brand new hazmat suits.
Frowning, he instinctively glanced around the room. He hadn’t opened the cupboard when he first arrived, and he wondered if the suits had been there all along or if the woman had come in later.
The door was bolted, but she surely had a key, didn’t she? He lay on the bed, eyes closed, resting.
The next morning, he donned a hazmat suit, strapped on goggles, and left his room.
Sarah was already at the lab bench, arranging various reagents. Without inflection, she slid a tray toward him, “Take these outside to the personnel of Specimen 8.”
Ian nodded and took the tray. It held about a dozen test tubes, each filled with colorful liquids.
A thick door separated the core laboratory from the outside. It could be opened from the inside, but anyone wishing to enter from the outside had to ring the video intercom and wait for Sarah’s permission.
Ian opened the door and walked over a hundred meters to the central hall. This was the same place he had seen the night before, with glass test chambers numbered accordingly. He located Chamber 8 and set the tray down beside it.
Looking up, he noticed the boy from before was inside Chamber 8, lying still just as he had been last night. From his vantage point above, Ian hadn’t seen the chamber number.
The researchers sighed in relief upon seeing the liquids.
“Doctor finally brought the sedatives. Turn them into gas and pump it in.”
“Hurry up, if he goes berserk, we’ll all suffer.”
Standing aside, Ian watched someone place a test tube into a machine, and the boy in the glass chamber opened his eyes.
He couldn’t shake the feeling that for a moment, their gazes had met. Like the night before, the boy’s eyes were devoid of any emotion, as if he were staring at an inanimate object.
Ian frowned, overhearing the researchers, “Strange, he should be losing it by now. How has he been so quiet since last night?”

Is author playing with our emotions?...
Why are there no updates yet, Author. We've all been waitibg for quite a while now. Please, update soon, Author. Thanks....
Author, my thoughts on the book. When are You going to write on Cornelia and Omar Casson's romance? You made no mention, describing in detail how Maja and Uan's white wedding ceremony went. Also, you didn't write on Carol's baby delivery. What about Tyler's romance. Is there closure on Phelps Herrington being truly certified dead, so also his twin brother? Dylan's research institute "little girl", what became of her and Dylan's romance? Beck's blind dates, what were the results, is he married now, so also Dylan to his "little girl"? Why hasn't Ian's father- Steven come forward to meet Maja's parents as the in-laws meeting each other especially with his supposed past with Lillian; Maja's mother. I hope I won't remain curious for too long on the aforementioned issues, Author. Thanks for doing a good job on Zoey and Fitch's romance, though. Kudos....
