After waiting for about ten minutes, he finally entered the hospital room.
Listina's complexion was far from rosy, and her eyes instantly reddened.
"You never used to bring anyone to visit me. Do you like her or something?"
"No, I don't."
He took a seat beside her, deftly peeling an apple with practiced ease.
Listina couldn't help but feel a twinge of jealousy, "She's pretty, with a nice vibe about her. How did you two end up colleagues?"
"She used to be a rich girl, but her family went bankrupt."
Listina let out a sigh of relief. That explained the aura of affluence she seemed to carry.
"Felix, you should probably keep your distance from her. I've heard those rich girls can be quite the handful, and I'm worried she’s set her sights on you. You're no match for her games."
Felix continued peeling the apple in silence, not responding to her comment.
Listina felt uneasy. Over the years, she had grown accustomed to Felix's care. His mother, before she passed away, had made him promise to marry Listina and take good care of her.
After all, it was Felix's father, Listina's family driver, who was involved in the tragic car accident that claimed the lives of Listina's parents. Felix's father didn't survive either, and the shock was too much for his mother, who took her own life right in front of him.
In just a month, Listina went from a wealthy girl to an orphan, with the added blow of their family business being acquired by the Miller Group, a wound that would ache for a lifetime.
With no parents to protect the company, the takeover was swift. From that point on, it was just Listina and Felix, depending on each other for survival.
Felix's mother had always felt it was her husband's fault, so she implored Felix with her dying wish.
"Take care of Listina. It's our family's debt to her. If it weren’t for your father, she wouldn't be an orphan. Felix, consider it my last request. I know we're being selfish, leaving you alone, but I just can't bear it anymore, I'm so sorry, Felix."
Because of this, Felix had been nothing short of devoted to Listina over the years, beyond reproach.
Yet when she offered herself to him, he rejected her, saying he wanted to wait until they were married.
Listina's heart was always restless, especially since Felix was so handsome and would have turned down legitimate job offers if not for the responsibility he felt towards her.
The better he treated her, the more insecure she became, fearing he might one day fall for someone else.

Is author playing with our emotions?...
Why are there no updates yet, Author. We've all been waitibg for quite a while now. Please, update soon, Author. Thanks....
Author, my thoughts on the book. When are You going to write on Cornelia and Omar Casson's romance? You made no mention, describing in detail how Maja and Uan's white wedding ceremony went. Also, you didn't write on Carol's baby delivery. What about Tyler's romance. Is there closure on Phelps Herrington being truly certified dead, so also his twin brother? Dylan's research institute "little girl", what became of her and Dylan's romance? Beck's blind dates, what were the results, is he married now, so also Dylan to his "little girl"? Why hasn't Ian's father- Steven come forward to meet Maja's parents as the in-laws meeting each other especially with his supposed past with Lillian; Maja's mother. I hope I won't remain curious for too long on the aforementioned issues, Author. Thanks for doing a good job on Zoey and Fitch's romance, though. Kudos....
