Dear Ex-wife Marry Me novel (Maja) novel Chapter 1764

Maja hung up the phone, her gaze resting on Ian, still unconscious in the bed.

Beck handed her a glass of water and gently guided her to sit down in a chair.

Downstairs, Dylan was keeping an eye on Rocky, the husky they'd adopted, who seemed to charm everyone he met.

The bedroom was quiet, the silence stretching on until Beck finally spoke.

"Maja, what's on your mind? You know the brothers have got your back."

After a moment's hesitation, Maja reached out and took Ian's hand in hers.

"Beck, I told you before, anyone who wants to take Ian away is up to no good. There's still one imposter we haven't figured out yet. It's only when Ian is out of the picture that the fake can step in without question. Today, Bernard wanted to take him away. If Bernard is involved in this, and Ian ends up comatose after visiting him, don't you think things start to add up?"

Maja was known for her bold ideas, and for her willingness to act on them.

Beck didn't think she was crazy; instead he stepped out of the room and called Dylan up from the staircase.

"Dylan, what do you think?"

Dylan glanced at Maja, then at Ian lying on the bed.

Maja had agreed to let Bernard take Ian and Patric the next day, which meant they had to come up with a plan before morning.

Before he could formulate a response, a noise at the window caught his attention.

The window swung open, and a girl around eighteen clambered in. Her hairstyle had changed; gone was the long, black, straight hair from her days at the research base, now replaced with curly locks and a pink hair clip to one side.

Maja recognized her; this was the girl who had clung to Dylan's side during their brief encounter in Cania.

Frowning, Maja wondered how the girl had managed to infiltrate Greenfield Gardens. The security had been tight, especially since Ian's return, yet this girl had slipped through unnoticed and even made it to the second floor.

Distrustful, Maja called Jeff on the first floor.
