Dear Ex-wife Marry Me novel (Maja) novel Chapter 1870

Two months later, the doctor declared the child out of danger but noted that he was naturally frail and would require special attention in his diet, clothing, and general care.

Fitch, a tall figure in a sharp black suit, felt the fragility of life cradled in his arms. The child was so small, so delicate, that he dared not move a muscle as he locked eyes with his son. The boy had large eyes and long lashes, nearly a spitting image of Fitch as a child.

The doctor, upon seeing Fitch, couldn't help but offer advice. "Mr. Haskins, we don't currently have a specialized cream for those scars on your back, but if you wish, I can have someone look into it for you."

"No need," Fitch replied, his tone flat but his eyes soft with affection as he held the child. Seeing his resolve, the doctor nodded and watched him leave the hospital.

As Fitch reached the hospital's main entrance, he saw Maja waiting. Over these two months, Ian had become too accustomed to hospital visits, and Maja had easily deduced that something had happened to Zoey.

Now, as she saw Fitch emerge with the child, her long wait erupted into action. She raised her hand and slapped him. Fitch remained silent, didn't retaliate, just turned his head to look at the child. The boy, seeing his father struck, let out a small laugh, oblivious to the situation, probably thinking Fitch was playing a game.

Maja, too upset to speak, her eyes swollen, couldn't believe Zoey was gone. How could it be? But then, she felt a wave of helplessness wash over her. What use was it to blame Fitch now? Zoey's child had survived and needed Fitch's care.

Ian, standing beside her, quickly intervened, coaxing her gently. "Maja, let it be. The kid's still in his arms. Be careful not to frighten him."

Maja bit her lip and fell silent as she watched Fitch secure the child in the car. The vehicle soon departed from the hospital, heading towards Fitch's residence.
