Chapter 445 

“Mr. Raymond, I’m going to put the hair dryer back. 

lan let her go. 

Maja put the hair dryer back in the bathroom and noticed a blister between his fingers when she returned. 

Having been sunburned herself, she knew what was up. 

Luckily, she had bought some burn ointment when she went to the hospital earlier today. 

She smeared a bit of it on her fingertip, took his hand, and gently applied it to his wound. 

lan didn’t notice what she was doing until he smelled the cool scent of the ointment. He looked up at her. 

But Maja wasn’t looking at him; she was focused on his wound. 

After she finished applying the ointment, she wiped the residue off her finger. 

lan asked her, 

“Did you come all the way to Crystalbrook Valley just for that dude?” 

Maja paused for a moment and sighed. 

“I’m here for the cherry wood flooring. I had spoken with Mr. Felton about this before. Today, someone returned some, and I picked out the best–quality batch. I’ve already had it sent to Greenfield.” 

Hearing this, lan felt a little relieved. 

“But what about you, Mr. Raymond? Why did you rush over to Crystalbrook Valley in the middle of the night without your assistant?” 

“The last project had some issues; I came to talk to the person in charge.” 

Maja was dubious. Even if there was a problem with the project, the person in charge here shouldn’t have made lan come in the middle of the night for fear of offending him. 

But lan was indeed here. 

She couldn’t think of any other reasons. 

Maja was a bit tired today. She had driven a long way, selected timber, checked information, and now just wanted to rest. 

But lan grabbed her wrist and looked at her knee with concern, 

It was still red. She must have worn long pants today. 

Her pain tolerance was really high. 

“I’ve already put medicine on it.” 

She responded this way. 

Then he let go of her hand. 

When Maja lay down in bed, she suddenly wondered if lan had other plans for tonight. 

But she was just too tired. 

The thought flashed through her mind, and then she was overtaken by fatigue. 

By the time lan came to the side of the bed, she was already asleep, wrapped up in the blanket. 

He, however, had a bit of insomnia and even started questioning why he came to Crystalbrook Valley. 

He glanced at his finger. The wound had a slight sting, with the cool sensation spreading from his fingertip to his chest. 

Once he lay down, he stared at the ceiling. 

Being in the same bed but not having sex with her gave him an unfamiliar feeling. 

Other than the time spent with her, his bed had been empty of other women for these years. 

lan turned his head and saw her peaceful, sleepy face. Just as he was about to touch her, his phone rang. 

He frowned unconsciously. 

The caller was Fitch, his voice a little hoarse. 

“I’ve gone through one–tenth of the draft paper. Your brother was a very rule–abiding man; I don’t think he would have had puppy love. I’m currently researching his university records. But he did have numerous research material, piled up in two rooms.” 

lan glanced at the time; it was 4 a.m.; Fitch obviously hadn’t slept. 

“Haven’t you slept?”
