She had never seen lan so pissed off before. 

She lowered her lashes, following silently behind Samuel. 

It wasn’t until they reached a brighter area that Samuel faintly saw the marks on her neck. 

He felt a bit uneasy. “lan did this?” 

Maja got in the car, her throat too sore to even speak. 

“Yeah.” 

“He’s cold–hearted toward his own wife.”

“Penny, don’t say I didn’t warn you. lan might seem all high and mighty, but he’s got a temper. No one in Greenfield dares to cross him. You know why?” Maja didn’t speak; she just silently touched her throat. 

“Anyone who can make a name for himself on Wall Street and in Silicon Valley in just three years is no angel. People in these two places are nuts, and they look down on each other. But he’s swimming like a fish in both waters. To be honest, me and my buddies sometimes wonder if he’s sitting on a pile of dough. He’s cold to himself, even colder to others. If he finds out you’re lying to him, it’s going to be ugly.”

Now that lan could almost choke her to death without remorse, what if he found out she was deceiving him? 

Maja didn’t say anything; her throat was hurting badly and she needed something cold to drink. 

Seeing her discomfort, Samuel pulled over and bought some medicine from a nearby pharmacy. 

The moment Maja got out of the car, she threw up some blood. 

That’s what happened when her throat was strangled to the extreme. 

Samuel handed her the medicine, and after drinking it, Maja felt a slight relief in her throat. 

She was sweating a little; she took off her hat and glasses and wiped off her makeup with a wet wipe, revealing a beautiful and pale face. 

Something stirred in Samuel’s heart. 

Maja lowered her lashes and hesitatingly asked, “If he finds out who I am, will he take revenge?” 

She had thought it was all meaningless. 

Samuel frowned. She seemed so fragile, as if she would shatter at the slightest touch. 

“Penny, lan is a golden boy. From a man’s perspective, if you’re not the one he wants to marry, he’ll definitely take revenge. Unless one day he tells you he loves you and wants to marry you, but do you think that’s possible?”
