Maja just glanced at her phone. 

Noticing it was late, she nonchalantly said, “Mr. Raymond, I gotta bounce.*

As Maja reached the hotel lobby, a wave of sadness washed over her. 

She looked up at the sky, trying to keep the tears from falling. 

Then Zoey called.

The whole thing’s stirred up a lot of chitchat; even the big shots are paying attention. With solid evidence, things moved quickly, and they’ve taken him away. Dalia is busy scrambling around, hoping to bail her son out. If all goes as expected, he’d be looking at a ten–year sentence.” 

It turned out it was someone she knew. 

Maja quickly slapped herself in the face, trying to shake off the sadness. She didn’t even notice that lan had followed her out. 

He seemed worried about her heading home alone so late. 

But when he reached the hotel entrance and saw her on the phone, laughing and chatting, seemingly unaffected by his matters, he was almost unable to contain the rush of anger.
