Chapter 743
She dreamed of a man who sneered at her, the words he spat out chilling her to the bone.
“You’re one of the Raymonds, ain’t you? I’ve seen you before, and you look fresh–faced. You gotta pay a price for running around here, kiddo.”
That was the real deal. Connie had just escaped from a storeroom when she bumped into the guy.
She never thought he’d know she was a Raymond.
She thought hiding among the hostages would keep her safe, but this kidnapper actually knew who she was.
She was scared witless, even harboring dark thoughts.
In the face of life and death, anyone could show their selfishness. She wished Maja would suddenly appear, take care of the guy, and rescue her.
But Maja didn’t show up.
The man’s gun was pointed at her chest. He didn’t hesitate, ready to pull the trigger.
An intense will to survive reminded her of how Maja once seduced another man, so she dropped to her knees.
Connie had never felt such humiliation.
If anyone had told her before that she would resort to this to survive, she would’ve called–bullshit.
Back then, her understanding of the world came from books. But when the harsh reality of the world was right before her, she realized she was no different from those who just wanted to live.
She was afraid of pain and death. She wanted to live.
So, in front of the man, she stripped off her clothes piece by piece.
The man’s trigger finger paused. He watched her strip with keen interest.
He got excited, and without hesitation, he pushed several tables together, leering at her.
Connie was crying the whole time, but her sobs only turned him on more.
Connie cried from the pain and shame. How could she stoop so low just to survive?
It was downright dirty.
She couldn’t accept this version of herself, the dark side of human nature exposed in such a moment.
When lan burst in, Connie’s mind went blank. She was afraid her respected cousin would look down on her, so she immediately made up an excuse.
It was all Maja’s fault. If Maja hadn’t pulled her out from the hostages, she wouldn’t have been noticed by the kidnapper.
If Maja had taken her along, she wouldn’t have lost her virginity.
It was all Maja’s fault.
She was just a victim, an innocent victim.
With this excuse, she felt she could face her life, so she resented Maja.
Even in her dreams, Connie’s hate on Maja repeated over and over.
“I hate you. Maja, I hate you. It’s because of you that I ended up like this. I don’t want to live, I want to die.”
But in reality, Connie wanted to live more than anyone else.
By her bedside were Maureen and Selena.
Maureen had known this issue involved Maja, but Selena had just arrived and immediately started asking.
“What’s going on? What’s this got to do with Maja?”
“We must wait until Connie wakes up to find out.”

The readers' comments on the novel: Dear Ex-wife Marry Me novel (Maja)
Author, would you story about Ryan settling down and another story on Eric regaining his body and memories back from Patrick, and Eric also settling down as I find it so disheartening for him to have gone through what he went through at the research institute, and I'll like for him to get his "golden boy" life back though, not at the detriment of Ian....
When will the author update to finish Beck's story? What about Dylan and Tyler's love lives? Also, I'll like the author to write on Wilma and Elvis ending up together as she was quite persistent in pursuing him. And Shawn's story, Cornelia Sullivan and Omar Casson. Also, a little write-up on Jeff (Ian's assistant) love life, too. Thanks, author for updating....
When will get update?...
