Chapter 81
Olivia’s voice was booming, with no restraint whatsoever.
lan’s stride faltered momentarily, a hint of contempt flashing in his eyes.
He remembered Maja once claiming that her relationship with her husband was solid.
It seemed like her marriage wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows.
But an unhappy marriage could be ended. If divorce wasn’t even considered, it meant something else was up.
Was she head over heels for the guy?
Maja looked at Olivia, feeling annoyed. She whipped out her phone, and called Daly.
But no one picked up on the other end, she got jittery in an instant.
It was sweltering outside. Daly was out there alone. If he passed out by the roadside, no one would have a clue.
“Olivia, come with me to pick up Daly.”
Olivia rolled her eyes, I’m not going unless you give me a hundred grand.”
Maja thought she heard wrong. How thick–skinned could Olivia be to say such a thing.
She got serious, “You want to say that again?”
Olivia looked up, ready to repeat herself, but seeing Maja’s fierce look, she got scared, shivering. She stuttered, “What… what are you going to do?”
“Just because others put up with you doesn’t mean I have to. You’d better not give me a reason:
A flicker of panic flashed in blivia’s eyes, but she straightened up immediately.
“Dont you dare threaten me here! What weakness could I possibly have? Your family has been cold–hearted enough to me! I married your cousin, and he just left me high and dry. He said he’d always take care of me. Pfft, it’s been your whole family owing me all along!”
Maja didn’t bother arguing. She drove off to find Daly.
Maja drove slowly along the same route, calling Daly, but no one picked up.
She was anxious. Half an hour later, she found Daly passed out by the roadside.
Maja was startled, quickly took out a bottle of water and splashed it on his face.
Daly slowly woke up and saw her. His lips moved twice, he was hot, but didn’t have the energy to talk.
Maja helped him into the car, “I’ll take you to the hospital.”
Daly sat in the passenger’s seat. The world in front of him was spinning.
“Maja, don’t quarrel with Oli. It’s us who did her wrong about your cousin. Your cousin messed up. Your dad let him work in his company. He even dared to run off with a few hundred grand of client’s money! Then he gambled it away, that one million plus dollars. Your aunt and I have been paying off the loan sharks. Ol’s been with us, always being gossiped about by the neighbors…”
Maja gripped the steering wheel, feeling helpless.
It was a fact that her cousin stole the client’s money, nearly costing the Pennyfeather family several key projects.

Is author playing with our emotions?...
Why are there no updates yet, Author. We've all been waitibg for quite a while now. Please, update soon, Author. Thanks....
Author, my thoughts on the book. When are You going to write on Cornelia and Omar Casson's romance? You made no mention, describing in detail how Maja and Uan's white wedding ceremony went. Also, you didn't write on Carol's baby delivery. What about Tyler's romance. Is there closure on Phelps Herrington being truly certified dead, so also his twin brother? Dylan's research institute "little girl", what became of her and Dylan's romance? Beck's blind dates, what were the results, is he married now, so also Dylan to his "little girl"? Why hasn't Ian's father- Steven come forward to meet Maja's parents as the in-laws meeting each other especially with his supposed past with Lillian; Maja's mother. I hope I won't remain curious for too long on the aforementioned issues, Author. Thanks for doing a good job on Zoey and Fitch's romance, though. Kudos....
