lan fell silent, his clenched fists slowly loosening, a sign of his wavering strength.
Tyler waited for a bit, sensing that something wasn't right on lan's end.

On the other side, lan lay on his bed after hanging up.

He didn't dare to move, fearing to aggravate his chest wound.
He wished time could forever freeze in that corridor.
They wouldn't hurt each other with words, and they were just leaning on each other. Even life and death seemed trivial at that moment. It was just them.
lan closed his eyes, grabbed his phone, and started typing quietly.
First, he typed, "I'm sorry."
