Jeff watched as the dejected individuals left to process their resignations and then turned his gaze to the group of sycophants still in the conference room, a smirk curving his lips.
At that moment, Mr. Haley stood up and shook his hand.
“Jeff, I'll be heading back to North America. I wish all the best for Mr. Raymond’s business.”
Jeff liked Mr. Haley's straightforwardness, nodding, “Until we meet again, Mr. Haley.”
Mr. Haley immediately leaned in, a fawning smile on his face. “I hope you can put in a good word for me with Mr. Raymond. The EcoTraverse Group owes its survival to his support. We'll forever be grateful for that.”
Jeff was unexpectedly touched.
It was rare to find such genuine people in the business world.
It was probably this very reason that made Ian decide to help the EcoTraverse Group in the first place.
The EcoTraverse Group, being a global leader in the automotive industry, had a family willing to entrust 95% of their shares to a trust. This showed the unity of this family, who were determined to prevent any possible acquisitions of the company.
The fact that the president of the EcoTraverse Group was allowed to retain the remaining five percent demonstrated the trust the rest of the family had in him.
This was a harmonious family, free from the convoluted politics of the Raymond family.
“Alright. Mr. Raymond admires your character as well, Mr. Haley.”
Mr. Haley left cheerfully, dialing his family on his cell phone to share the good news. His joy was palpable and unfeigned.
Jeff politely saw him off to the underground garage, only returning to the elevator once Haley's car had disappeared into the distance.
As Ian's assistant, it was important for him to appear more composed than anyone else.
Once alone, he took a deep breath, a broad smile gracing his face.
When he returned to Ian’s office, he slipped back into his professional demeanor.
“Mr. Raymond, those individuals have begun their transition process. Would you like a list of those we're promoting to fill their positions?”
Instead, Ian pulled out a prepared list of replacements.
The list sent a jolt through Jeff. The number of people on the list matched the number of executives resigning right down to their positions.
This meant that Ian had known about their wavering loyalty all along.
Instead of firing them previously, he decided to uproot them completely this time.
As his assistant, Jeff was momentarily at a loss for words.

The readers' comments on the novel: Dear Ex-wife Marry Me novel (Maja)
Author, would you story about Ryan settling down and another story on Eric regaining his body and memories back from Patrick, and Eric also settling down as I find it so disheartening for him to have gone through what he went through at the research institute, and I'll like for him to get his "golden boy" life back though, not at the detriment of Ian....
When will the author update to finish Beck's story? What about Dylan and Tyler's love lives? Also, I'll like the author to write on Wilma and Elvis ending up together as she was quite persistent in pursuing him. And Shawn's story, Cornelia Sullivan and Omar Casson. Also, a little write-up on Jeff (Ian's assistant) love life, too. Thanks, author for updating....
