When Ruben spotted them, he broke down, tears streaming down his face. "Oh my God, I finally found you!" he cried, dropping to his knees, unable to hold back his sobs.
Chloe watched him, completely baffled by his reaction. The assistant director was also wiping tears from his eyes. "The boss said if we didn't find you two, we'd all be sent to Palestine to shoot a documentary," he sniffled.
For the past couple of days, even though the live stream was manipulated to appear normal, they couldn't crack the tech to trace the location. They couldn't figure out where the two were from the footage, only guessing that they had drifted to some island. But with so many islands scattered around, finding them was like looking for a needle in a haystack.
Just when everyone was running around like headless chickens, the live stream abruptly cut off. The tiny spark of hope the crew had was instantly extinguished. No one knew which big shot was behind this prank.
But then, a few hours later, Ruben's phone buzzed with a location ping. It pinpointed the exact spot of the deserted island. To everyone's surprise, the island was nestled between Devil Island and Angel Island, close to both. Oddly, it wasn't on any satellite maps, and the crew had no idea it even existed. They had scoured many places but had overlooked this nearest island.
When Chloe saw Pax, she was taken aback. The once sunny and cheerful boy had transformed completely. His bright smile was gone, replaced by a gloomy, worn-out expression. He was so thin, his eyes sunken. He didn’t run to her like he used to; instead, he hid at the furthest edge of the crowd. By the time Chloe snapped out of her shock, he had vanished.
Chloe sensed that something serious had happened to Pax. She had an inkling of what it might be. Sometimes, growth happens in a blink of an eye.
