Reyna wasn't afraid at all. She had been by Claire's side for seven or eight years and knew her boss's mood swings like the back of her hand. In this company, as long as you played along with Claire, you could get away with anything—even stepping on Mr. Connor's toes.
"Oh, I'm shaking in my boots, Diana," Reyna sneered, "Just because you're a Gilbert family heiress, don't think everyone has to bow down to you. This is Sartori Corporation, not your family mansion."
"And you don't still think you're going to be the future princess, do you? Haven't you heard that Mr. Connor is already hitched, marriage certificate and all?"
"Plus, you're just a has-been now. Do you really think Mr. Connor would even give you a second glance?"
"Reyna, head to HR and hand in your resignation tomorrow."
A cold male voice sliced through the chatter from the back of the crowd. Everyone turned to see where it was coming from. And there stood Connor, not too far away.
A wave of surprise swept through the room. Instinctively, people stepped aside to make way for him.
Reyna's expression faltered slightly at the sight of Connor. "Mr. Connor, I was just joking around with Diana."
