Drunk and Daring I Kissed a Tycoon novel Chapter 296

After Dominic had spoken, he stood up and left the office.

Vespera stared at the door—first open, now closed again. After a long pause, she let out a quiet sigh and rubbed her forehead in frustration.

She did, eventually, finish the soup Raymond had made. To be fair, it was pretty good.

Later, she took the initiative to head over to Gerard's office to go over some work stuff.

At first, neither of them mentioned anything. She didn't explain, and he didn't ask. They acted just like they always did.

But right as Vespera was about to leave, Gerard finally said—carefully, almost sheepishly. "Mr. Reid… he didn't freak you out or anything, did he?"

After last night's stalking and now showing up in her office unannounced? The man was escalating.

"Well… it's not that bad," Vespera said, her expression suggesting everything was just barely within her tolerance.

Gerard gave her a look. "He's definitely… kind of into you. You're not gonna quit, right?"

She waved it off with a smile. "No, don't worry."

A few seconds of silence passed. Then she added, "Actually… I'm kind of scary, too."

She gave him a reassuring smile and walked out.

Gerard sat there, completely baffled.

Wait, what?

Aside from that odd little scene in the morning, the rest of the day was surprisingly normal.

Which made sense. When Dominic was in work mode, a dozen naked women could be dancing across his desk, and he wouldn't blink.

He had a lunch meeting that day, but he didn't mention who he was taking.

Vespera told Gerard to go with him because she had something else to do. As soon as the lunch hour hit, she left. She grabbed a quick bite, then went straight to the pharmacy.

No protection last night, and according to her calendar, she was right in the middle of her ovulation window. The odds of getting pregnant were way too high.

She had to take something. No questions asked. After all, if something went wrong, it'd be her body paying the price.

She bought the emergency pills, tucked them in her bag, and headed back to the office.

The entire floor was quiet. It was already noon—no doubt they'd all left by now.
