Dominic turned to the fridge and took some ingredients from inside. As he turned around, he realized that she had tilted her head to look at him. But as soon as he turned, she looked away and walked out of the kitchen.
Dominic frowned.
Vespera did not go to the courtyard since she wasn't wearing anything underneath the oversized shirt. Although only two of them were in the villa, she still felt awkward about it.
Instead, she explored the stunning glass house and came across a lace-covered lounge chair in the backyard. She also found a diamond earring on the floor next to a piano and a tube of lipstick among some magazines on a coffee table.
It wasn't as if Vespera deliberately went looking around for those items. They just seemed to be lying around in someone else's home. It was as if she had accidentally wandered into the house.
Should she ask Dominic who lived in the glasshouse?
Vespera stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling window and glanced at the clouds. They no longer seemed carefree but like cotton candy that was stuck in the sky.
After some thought, she decided not to confront him. If she asked, that would show how serious she was about their relationship. They already had a lovely night yesterday, and that was enough.
Vespera returned to the dining room. By then, Dominic had already served breakfast on the table. There was salad, fried eggs, toasted bread with jam, and milk. There was also a small slice of cake.
"Not bad at all." Vespera sat down as she complimented the breakfast. She picked up a fork and knife and took small bites of her food.
But Dominic did not take a single bite. He merely sat there and looked at Vespera.
At first, Vespera pretended not to have noticed anything. But as time went on, she could no longer keep up with the pretense.
She touched her face. "Why do you keep looking at me like that?"
"Ms. Gildon, I was wondering—you're such a smart woman. Why aren't you curious about where these foods came from?" Dominic stared at Vespera curiously.
Vespera slowly scooped up some cake before saying nonchalantly, "There's nothing to ask. Obviously, the food belongs to the owner of this house, and that's you."
Dominic replied, "I know I haven't been here for a while."
