Vespera froze. Her thoughts jolted violently. It was as if her soul had been ripped out of her body.
A moment later, she replied with two words, "Welcome back."
Nancy had intentionally messaged her to inform that she would be back next Wednesday. She couldn't be any clearer.
Vespera vaguely recalled what Natasha had said in the morning. She mentioned that Fawn had called a certain someone and asked Dominic to remain cautious.
Could the certain someone be Nancy?
Vespera's heart sank a little. A moment later, she smiled sadly.
While distracted, her phone fell into the water and became submerged among the petals and foam. She quickly fished it out of the water, but the screen had already turned black.
Vespera couldn't turn on her phone—It was officially dead. She blinked, looking slightly out of it.
As the mist surrounded the bathtub, Vespera stared sorrowfully at her phone. It had submerged through those dreamy bubbles and fragrant petals and went dead unexpectedly.
But so what if the phone suddenly went dead?
So what if Vespera had fallen for Dominic?
The reality was cruel to her. Since she had expected this to happen, there would be no miracles.
Vespera got out of the water and wrapped a towel around herself. Then, she turned to pick up the phone she had placed between the scented candle and wine glass before tossing it into the water.
…
The next day, after Vespera had breakfast, she left her apartment to get a new phone. Then, she took a taxi to her parents' place so she could pick up her car.
In the taxi, Dominic's call went through immediately as soon as Vespera switched on her phone, and she said, "Hello."
