Ex-husband's Sweet Trap novel Chapter 12

Later, Luz found an excuse to distract her son and managed to slip out quietly. She called Mia and asked her to come over at lunch to look after him as she drove to the company.

...

This was the first meeting that Luz had attended on the second day of work. She was mainly responsible for hosting and recording the meeting.

At 9:30 in the morning, Henry entered the meeting room in a black suit with the senior executives.

His indifferent expression and cold aura startled Luz, who was standing the closest to him. She almost dropped the documents she was holding.

She looked away awkwardly and forced herself to calm down.

"Luz, just treat him as your boss," she told herself quietly. "Don't bring in any other emotions!"

Before long, Luz felt her head spin because of the fever. Cold sweat coated the back of her shirt as her face turned pale.

Suddenly, Henry's voice came into her ears. "Ms. Boone, what do you think?"

Luz's hands on the keyboard suddenly flinched.

She was going to read off the meeting minutes and find out what Henry was asking her about, but she realised that the document in front of her was just a bunch of jumbled words. Evidently, she did not take down the minutes properly.

"Well, well. Secretary Boone, for getting distracted in a meeting."

Henry's lips curled into a cruel smile when Luz did not answer his question. His face was so indifferent it was almost cruel. He rapped on the table and said, "Get out and ask Linda to come in."

Obviously, he was very dissatisfied with her.

Luz clenched her fists, burying her nails into her palms, and admitted fault to Henry.

"I'm sorry, Mr. Maynard. Please repeat what you just said, and I'll reflect on this after the meeting."

Henry's eyes turned cold and said curtly, "I don't need any excuses. Get out!"

"... Okay." She bit her lips and got up to leave the meeting room.

Less than half an hour after the meeting, everyone in the company knew that the new secretary was absent-minded during the meeting and had been told off by the CEO.
