Ex-husband's Sweet Trap novel Chapter 2

At the West Siena Restaurant.

As soon as the waiter handed over the menu, Logan grabbed it with his chubby little hands. He flipped through the pages with a frown on his face.

"Mommy, why are there only steak, salad, or foie gras here? We had those in America and I'm sick of it!"

Luz coughed awkwardly as she glanced at Declan and took the menu from Logan. "You should order, don't mind Logan, he's just a kid."

Declan had a gentle smile on his face. "It's okay. You don't need to be so careful around me. Logan is like my own child."

His words were so touching, even the waitress blushed and glanced surreptitiously at him.

Luz blushed and avoided Declan's eyes. She hurriedly handed the menu to the waiter and said, "Two French steaks, a children's set meal, and one foie gras. Thank you."

"Sure. It'll be out in a moment."

After the waiter left, Declan poured a cup of tea and pushed it to Luz. "What are you planning to do now?" he asked.

"The HQ transferred me to the M&R company as the head secretary," Luz replied, as she took a deep breath.

Declan frowned. "M&R? That small media company that is close to bankruptcy?"

She was noncommital. "They used their last capital to invest in our headquarters in America and asked for a reputable team to help them out. I was chosen for the team. What are the chances?"
