Chapter 177 Hitching a Ride
After finishing breakfast, I went to the police station to give a statement, as Lucas had previously informed me to do so after I had a good rest.
After saying goodbye to my mother and Alexander, I went straight to the police station.
Police station.
Interrogation room.
Lucas handed me a glass of water and asked me to talk about what happened in the abandoned factory. I explained how I was kidnapped by Henry, how I woke up in the abandoned factory, and how I was drugged by Ashley. After the effects of the drug knocked me out, I didn’t know what happened. The next thing I knew, I woke up at the place of Sebastian’s friend.
After listening, Lucas slightly furrowed his brows and said, “Do you have contact information for the friend who took you away? We may need to cross-examine his testimony. At present, we can’t catch Henry, and Miss Ashley is still in the hospital, so we can only question you to see if we can find Henry and arrest him.”
I nodded, handing over Sebastian’s phone without changing my expression. I didn’t mention Henry’s death, and acted as if I knew nothing about his affairs. Even after Ashley woke up, whatever she said, just like what Sebastian said, without a body, there was no proof of her death.
Moreover, if Ashley insisted that I killed Henry, then how did she determine how a drugged person like me could commit murder?

After Lucas finished asking questions, he didn’t say much more. He just reminded me to be careful when going out recently, so as not to run into Henry again.
I nodded, left the interrogation room, and a police officer came towards us. He looked at Lucas and said, “Captain Lucas, Mr. Hinton has arrived.”
Lucas nodded, responding, “Bring the information we found.”
The policeman nodded and then left.
After the conversation, Lucas and I arrived at the hall.
In the hall, Walter’s tall and slender figure was particularly eye- catching. Indeed, his own conditions were too superior, making it hard to ignore.
Upon seeing him, Lucas stepped forward to greet him, saying, “Mr. Hinton, you’re here. Let’s go to my office to talk.”
Walter’s gaze fell on me for a moment before he turned to Lucas and said, “That won’t be necessary. Just give me the information you’ve found. There shouldn’t be much else to discuss, we can talk about it here.”
Upon seeing this, Lucas smiled and said, “Alright, then I’ll have a brief chat with Mr. Hinton.”
I had already finished my business, and moreover, I didn’t have a penchant for listening to others’ gossip. After bidding Lucas a soft farewell, I left.
The two were talking without avoiding others, and I could still hear Lucas’s voice even when I didn’t walk far away, “Our people stationed at the border found some traces of your father. He was indeed in Fallwall a few years ago, but it seems that he was moved later.

Logically, Ezra should know his whereabouts, but now Ezra is dead, and our people over there have not made any special progress, so…”
I left the police station, so naturally, I didn’t hear what was said afterwards.
It seemed that Walter had indeed gone to the border to find his father back then. Thinking of the mine disaster that Dale and I had talked about, I felt a lump in my throat. I couldn’t help but look up at the gloomy sky and take a deep breath.
Even I, a person who had never personally experienced it, felt suffocated when I heard Dale’s words, let alone Walter’s father. I imagine he couldn’t comfortably continue to enjoy the wealth and prosperity brought by the Hinton family, so he resolutely left.
“What are you thinking about?” Suddenly, there was an extra person beside me, his voice low and restrained.
A very familiar voice, it was Walter. I didn’t turn around to look at him, but caught a glimpse of the document bag in his hand from the corner of my eye. It must have been some information about his father that Lucas had investigated,
Suppressing the inexplicable emotions in my heart, I pursed my lips, said little, and prepared to leave.
My wrist was grabbed by the man, I frowned, slightly displeased, and glanced at him sideways. I met his dark eyes, as black as the night. The man’s thin lips slightly opened, “Grandma woke up, she said she wants to see you.”
I pursed my lips, the words of refusal on the tip of my tongue, but I didn’t say them. I pulled my wrist from his grip and said, “Hmm, I will go see her.”
“Come with me now,” he began, not waiting for me to say more. He
