Chapter 236 Did You Care About Him?

I didn’t react in time, staring at him blankly, “What?”

Following his slightly indifferent gaze, I saw Walter who had already gotten off the car and was waiting for me. Realizing he was asking about Walter and me, I paused, truly unsure of how to respond.

After a moment of hesitation, I said, “He probably feels indebted.” As for Walter’s sudden change towards me, the only thing I could think of was debt. The debt from five years ago when I saved him, the debt for hurting our child for Ashley, and the debt of mistaking someone else for years and being unable to make up for it.

Also, that was all.

Daniel looked back, his deep, dark eyes fixed on me, “What about you?”

I was a bit confused, “Me?”

He nodded, “Did you care about him?”

I didn’t rush to answer his question. Looking at Daniel, I smiled and said, “Mr. Monroe doesn’t seem like the type to gossip about others’ private lives.”

He raised an eyebrow, showing no discomfort, and calmly said, “One must always have curiosity, it makes life a bit interesting, otherwise wouldn’t it be boring?”

As he spoke, his attractive eyes arched, filled with a devilish charm.

My heart suddenly sank, and the chopsticks in my hand were startled

and fell to the ground. Realizing my loss of composure, I hurriedly scrambled to pick them up in a panic.

His arms were long, and with a slight bend of his waist, he picked up the chopsticks before me. He gestured for someone to bring me a new pair, then looked at me and asked, “Was what I said so shocking and outrageous? Why has your face turned pale?”

I shook my head, my mind still buzzing. For a split second earlier, I felt as if I had seen someone I was extremely afraid of – Ezra.

If it weren’t for Daniel and Ezra’s completely different appearances, the way he spoke just now was exactly like Ezra.

Suppressing the sudden fear in my heart, I looked at Daniel and shook my head slightly, apologizing, “No, I just felt a little uncomfortable in my stomach just now, so I accidentally dropped the chopsticks. I’m really sorry.”

Hearing this, Daniel furrowed his brows, expressing concern, “Are you okay? I can take you to the hospital.”

I quickly shook my head, embarrassed. “It’s not a big deal, there are a few days like this every month, I just have to bear with it and it will pass. However, I might have to go back first.”

He realized what I meant, paused for a moment, then nodded and said, “I’ll take you down.”

“No need.” I declined, laughing, “I can manage on my own, and it’s not far. My husband will come to pick me up, thank you Mr. Monroe.”

Mentioning Walter on purpose, Daniel gave a slight nod, his expression calm as he said, “Alright, then I won’t see you out.”

It’s not that I meant to say this on purpose, but mainly because, although Daniel’s face was no longer covered with a mask, his legs

probably hadn’t recovered yet, and he was still sitting in a wheelchair. If he really wanted to deliver, it would indeed be a hassle for him.

Leaving the restaurant, just stepping out the door, I immediately spotted Walter standing by the car, exceptionally conspicuous. He and Daniel were not the same type of handsome. Daniel’s good looks. leaned towards refinement, while Walter exuded a noble beauty from his bones. Both were attractive, but in different ways.

Seeing me come out, he looked at me and promptly opened the passenger side car door.

He was like this, if I turned a blind eye, it would seem pretentious.

He got in the car, started it, and asked in a light tone, “Where to?”

“The Conner Group!” I blurted out, instinctively checking the time. Turning to him, I asked, “You… have been waiting outside the restaurant for me, do you have something to tell me?”
