Chapter 266 The Evidence Was Found

After a few sips of warm water, my hunger-cramped stomach finally felt a bit better. Looking at him, what I was more curious about was how he could suddenly come to see me.

Previously, it was said that due to the huge public opinion caused by this case, the higher-ups did not allow him to interfere with the case, so they had to change the person in charge of the investigation.

How could he suddenly come to see me now?

Seeing the confusion written all over my face, he said, “There has been a new development in your case. Mr. Hinton and Mr. Monroe have provided us with new leads. The police station is currently verifying them. Once they are confirmed, you will be able to leave.”

“New clues?” I was surprised, looking at him, “What new clues?”

It had been a week since I last saw the two of them. I had previously thought that their comments about not letting me stay here for too long were just a whim, so I had never expected them to find any evidence.

Captain Lucas spoke, saying, “Mr. Hinton seemed to have found some video footage in the factory where Henry was killed.”

I frowned, “Wasn’t that factory already abandoned? How could there possibly be a video?”

He comforted me, saying, “Don’t get upset, the video wasn’t from the factory, it was accidentally found in the car driven before Ashley.”

This left me a bit baflled, looking at him in confusion.

He hesitated for a few seconds and said, “It seems to be the one Mr. Hinton gave to Ashley. The day you were kidnapped by Henry, Ashley drove that car to the factory. The car was parked outside at that time. Fortunately, the factory was abandoned, and most of the bricks and glass were broken, so the car’s dashcam recorded some of the things that happened between the three of you in the factory. However, the distance was too far to hear any sound, and many of the images were not very clear, so I just handed it over to the police to handle.”

I was stunned and didn’t speak. After being kidnapped by Henry, I woke up in the factory. Later, I was drugged, so I didn’t pay any attention to the details outside the factory.

After a few seconds of confusion, I looked at Captain Lucas, puzzled, and asked, “You just said Mr. Monroe also provided a clue, what was it?”

By this time, the guard had already brought in some food. Seeing how weak I was, Captain Lucas didn’t rush to respond. Instead, he handed me the food and said, “You eat something first.”

The food brought by the guard was simple, just plain porridge and white steamed buns. Having been starved for several days, I was so eager to devour the food upon seeing it. Fortunately, I had just had some warm water. When the porridge was served, I didn’t use a spoon, but lifted the bowl directly, fearing that I might choke due to my haste. Captain Lucas was quietly comforting me on the side.

With a hint of apology in his tone, he said, “Slow down, don’t choke.”

With a bowl of porridge down my stomach, my hungry gut finally felt somewhat relieved. As I gnawed on a bun, I looked at Captain Lucas and asked, “What evidence did Mr. Monroe provide?”

He said, “After you fainted in the factory and were taken away by Sebastian, it was Daniel who called a doctor for you. The doctor was a
