Chapter 12
They were surprised. Ja… Jalen, how could he be here?
The surrounding fell into a dead silence. Elaina and Jalen who were stared at with scrutiny by him wished they could find a hole to hide in..
With a ding, the elevator arrived.
Elaina came up with an idea and pulled Jenica into the elevator. She wanted them to quickly disappear, but she did not expect Jalen to also step in with his long legs.
Tell me, how did she let me off so easily? What do you think she should ask me for?” He spoke, and his eyes focused on Jenica. Although his tone was calm, it gave people a kind of fear that came from nowhere.
Jenica swallowed her saliva with guilt, but she then realized Jalen was the one who had wronged Elaina int the matter of divorce. She just told the truth.
Just as she was about to speak, Elaina spoke first, “Well, Mr. Halton. after Jenica knew that I did the operation for Ms. Dunston, she felt that I should ask you for more rewards. So she said that.”
“You mean what I gave is not enough?” Jalen turned to look at her and spoke threateningly.
“Of course, it’s enough.” Elaina shook her head and forced a smile. “It’s my fault that I didn’t make it clear to Jenica. She doesn’t know how much you gave me.”
“Oh? Really?” Jalen looked at Jenica again. He felt that this was not the truth.
Jenica met Elaina’s gaze. Although she did not understand what was going on, she still nodded in agreement. “Yes.”
“Just because of this, you want to beat me up?” Jalen frowned.
Jenica felt it was her fault and did not dare to look Jalen in the eye.
“She was just saying it casually. Don’t take it seriously,” Elaina explained. She also thought that they were unlucky. When speaking ill of Jalen, they happened to run into him!
Jalen ignored her and stared at Jenica for a long time before he said faintly, “You are the daughter of Aldo Gansburg?”
“Ah… Yes.” Jenica nodded, surprised that Jalen recognized her.
“Very well. I will remember you.” As he spoke, the elevator got to the first floor. He walked out.
Jenica’s legs suddenly went weak. If Elaina hadn’t supported her in time, she would have fallen down. “Crap. He won’t take revenge on my dad’s company, will he?”

Looking at Jalen going away, Elaina shook her head. “I don’t think so. Jalen is not so childish.”
Jenica felt Elaina was right. After getting a little relieved, she asked, “What happened between you and him?
Don’t tell me he doesn’t know you.”

Just now, Jalen and Elaina had almost no interaction in the elevator. Jalen could not understand the meaning of her words. Other than that he didn’t know Elaina, she really could not think of any other reason.
“Well, I have never seen him since we got married.”
Elaina nodded and continued, “You don’t know how stunned I was when he asked me to perform the surgery on his lover the day after I divorced him.”
“His lover?” Jenica was interested. “Tell me in detail.”
Then, Elaina told her the ins and outs of the operation to Marie and sighed. “I don’t want to see him again.”
“Well, it can’t come true.” Jenica gloated. “Have you never thought about why he was here just now?”
Elaina said, “…”
She couldn’t believe this. New York was a big city. How come she and Jalen lived in the same community, the
same building, or even the same floor?
She wondered, is there anyone unluckier than me?
“I’m really curious about Jalen’s reaction when he finds out you are his ex-wife.” Jenica thought, I really want
to tell Jalen right now.
