Just thinking about how he used his filthy mouth makes every bit of me burn in rage. Looking at his condescending eyes, every bit of my body screamed to unleash the power I had and kill him on the spot.

Even Eron was agitated when he mentioned Chloe’s name with a mocking tone. With the two of us being so in sync with our rage towards Alpha Kain, the hostility had no way to be held back anymore.

But just as I was about to let loose my raging anger, I saw a shadowy figure slowly approaching from behind the throne . My eyes became distracted as I could smell a familiar scent in that direction.

Only then did I notice that behind the throne was a heavy black curtain which led to somewhere. I momentarily forgot what I was about to do when I saw that the person was slowly approaching the place Kain and I were in.

“Oh… my wife is in the mood to come out.” Alpha Kain seemed to have noticed the other person’s presence even before I did. His face was filled with excitement and pleasure when his mighty body shifted toward the side where the figure was about to walk out.

His eyes squinted dangerously, waiting in anticipation. He was like a wolf who could not wait to set his mouth to taste the delicacy he was about to be given.

I held my breath in surprise and confusion when I heard Alpha Kain’s words - wife.

‘That person that was about to come out is his wife?’

‘But why does this person carry a familiar scent?’

There were so many questions in my mind as I stood still in the spot I am in. At this distance, I could not yet fully distinguish the scent that was giving me the feeling of familiarity.

The scent was faint, almost nonexistent. It was drowned by another strong overpowering scent that made me feel nauseous at the same time.

“Hmm… it was most probably because that Alpha over there completely marked that person.” Eron who seldom spoke answered the question in my mind.

Realizing that and seeing the person behind the curtain finally emerging, I felt like a strong lightning bolt struck me at the moment.

Behind my mask, I could not help but stare with my mouth wide open and my fist clenched in shock and a deep sense of betrayal.

Because the person I saw walking so submissively toward Alpha Kain who immediately pulled her toward his lap was someone whom I used to entrust my back and pack with.

“Sabre… let me introduce you… the most powerful women in the entire werekind. The only woman who is fit to stand beside me as a companion and mate… Lyra!”

Alpha Kain said with pride and arrogance. From his mouth came a name that I would have never imagined to side with my archenemy.

Lyra.

‘Why?’

I used the last bit of sanity that I had to stop myself from uttering this word, however, I could already barely contain my composure. A trusted confidant, we’ve grown up together and even had each other’s backs!

And even though it is no longer relevant, at one part of our lives, we were more than friends.
