For example, now, she could stand in front of him and try to comfort him instead of wanting to wrap herself up like before.
Huston thought for a moment and concluded. "It can't be considered a quarrel."
"What's the matter?" After asking, Evelyn was afraid of troubling him, so she quickly added, "If you don't want to talk about it, then don't say anything."
"It's because of Renee," Huston told her the whole story without hesitation. "She wants me to help her find some connections to apply for a graduate admission quota."
She nodded. "I see. Then why aren't you happy?"
Hearing her question, Huston was slightly stunned. She raised her eyebrows slightly and asked, "Do you think I shouldn't be unhappy?"
She thought for a moment and said, "Well... she's your sister. It's reasonable for her to ask you for help, isn't it?"
"For her, helping her is only natural, but it's unfair to others," Huston calmly explained his thoughts. "If I help her, it would be unfair to others, and I don't like the feeling of taking shortcuts."
Evelyn finally understood what made him angry, but for a moment, she didn't know what to say. She was unsure whether she should point out that his sense of justice might disappoint his family or praise him for being fair and impartial. These words now seemed more likely to sound ironic.
But she truly felt that this man in front of her was even more upright than she had imagined. Although he always appeared nonchalant, his heart held stronger convictions than anyone else's.
"You are right, but she is your sister after all. You are family, and you can't refuse her. Just criticize her a little, but don't be angry," Evelyn gently comforted him. "Let's wash our hands and eat; we have been in here for a while."
