Seeing her approach, the three of them all looked over, especially her mother, Wallis, whose face was somewhat grim, clearly shocked by the 'warm' reception at the hospital.
Beryl was preoccupied with her father in the operating room and hadn't realized the extent of the misunderstanding that might be caused by her appearing with Marcellus.
She quickly walked over to Wallis, grabbing her somewhat cold hand, "Mom, how is Dad doing?"
"We don't know yet, he just went into the operating room half an hour ago, "Wallis spoke with red-rimmed eyes, clearly fraught with panic and concern.
"Mom, don't worry. Dad will be okay," Beryl, who had been frantic all the way, was now comforting others.
Marcellus raised an eyebrow, and seeing Wallis glance at him, he smoothly withdrew his arm from around Beryl's shoulders, instead touching his neck nonchalantly and looking elsewhere.
Wallis knew it wasn't the time to talk, so she didn't ask in detail, but her gaze at her daughter was very complex.
Marcellus's assistant, Mike, and bodyguards arrived at the hospital later. The group of four or five tall, large men dressed in black suits standing on both sides had an intimidating presence, even without saying a word.
Seemingly aware of the discomfort of Beryl's family, Marcellus went over and said something to one of them. Not long after, those men left the scene.
Beryl had watched his actions the entire time, knowing that he was considering her. Her normally cold heart suddenly became soft and warm, and the long waiting time seemed less grinding due to this small gesture.
