Upon saying this, Beryl fell silent, and it was nearly half a minute before she whispered a complete sentence, "To extend our time together."
Marcellus knew she had strong pride, but he never expected her to say such a thing. His facial expression instantly stiffened, full of surprise, and more of a feeling of being insulted.
What did he consider their relationship to be?
A negotiable deal, or a bargaining chip for negotiation?
Marcellus had never known his emotions could be so out of control. Just a second ago, he was wishing to give her the best of everything, but now he wanted to peel open her head to see what was inside.
What image did he hold in her heart to make her say such a thing?
No wonder she had chosen a secluded place to say this, it was more embarrassing than being slapped in the face.
Though Marcellus had often acted shamelessly in front of her and had never consciously tried to disguise anything, he was truly bothered now.
He couldn't be indifferent to her words, no matter how shameless he was.
Beryl, however, had no idea that he would have so many thoughts. Her mind was also a mess. She just wanted to tell him the only thing she could do, and the deeper meaning was that she wanted him to know that she wasn't so repulsed by him anymore.
Unfortunately, Marcellus completely missed this meaning. He felt as though his hair was about to be set ablaze by the raging fire within his chest.
