Mr. Moore and Mike exchanged glances, "What's going on with Mr. Perkins?"
"He had a quarrel with Miss Juliet."
After that, both of them sighed and stopped talking.
That night, Marcellus stayed at Red Cauldron until four in the morning. For the first two hours, he had been drinking mostly alone. Later, someone who had heard the news came over to toast him. Usually, Marcellus would ignore uninvited people like this, but today he was very generous and refused no one.
So, when the gathering finally ended at 4:30 in the morning, Marcellus was so drunk he couldn't walk and had to be assisted by Mr. Moore to leave the private room.
He didn't go home, and he didn't even bother to clean up. He simply fell asleep in the small rest area inside his office.
Lying on the bed, Marcellus reeked of alcohol and was muttering something under his breath. Mr. Moore leaned in closer to listen, "Troublesome woman. Ungrateful wretch…"
Was he cursing Miss Juliet?
It probably wasn't anyone else. Only Miss Juliet would linger in Marcellus' mind even when he was drunk.
Mr. Moore stayed by his side, helping him remove his shoes and clothes. By the time he had finally tucked Marcellus in, it was already past five in the morning.
He hadn't gone home all night, and his wife and child were worried. Just as he was preparing to leave, he heard the man on the bed whisper, "Cold..."
Cold?
With the heating in the room turned up, how could he be cold?
Mr. Moore moved closer and asked softly, "Mr. Perkins, are you feeling unwell?"
Marcellus didn't respond. The alcohol had made him quite hazy, but his hand was on his stomach, and he was slightly curled up.
When he was young, he often drank alcohol for social purposes, and his irregular eating habits led to a stomach condition. Given how much he drank last night, it was likely flaring up again.
He remembered there were stomach medicines stocked in the office. He brought over the medicine box, but unfortunately, all the medicines were produced internally by Lane's Hospital, with no labels, only white bottles. He simply couldn't understand which was which.
