Throughout the day, Beryl's mood wasn't great. On the one hand, it was because she was in the hospital, surrounded by sick people, which naturally affected her mood. But the main reason was Wallis's words.
From a young age, the most praise she received from others was for being obedient and not giving her parents any trouble. However, this very trait that people praised was also her weakness. She felt that Wallis and her father had worked so hard to raise her, so she always complied with whatever they said.
When she was younger, she didn't think much about it, but as she grew older, she realized that her family's words carried a lot of psychological pressure on her. Even though she disagreed with Wallis's words and even found them very stressful, when it came to actual actions, she would still agree unconditionally.
This kind of compliance might ease her guilt towards her family, but it was always a pressure and burden for herself.
Beryl had never realized this before, but now she could clearly sense it. She really wanted to see Marcellus, and that's probably why she could perceive her true feelings.
But if she truly disregarded her family and went to see him, she couldn't do it. So, she could only compromise like this.
That evening, after having dinner in the hospital cafeteria, Beryl slept in the hospital room. It wasn't very convenient to wash up, but it was still manageable. Thanks to Marcellus's influence, the hospital staff took good care of them, providing them with some conveniences.
At half past five in the afternoon, Marcellus called. Beryl found an excuse and slipped out of the hospital room, making sure there was no one around before answering.
"Hello?"
"You're at the hospital?" Compared to her low tone, Marcellus's voice sounded more relaxed.
"Yeah, I'm with my dad," Beryl replied in a low voice.
"What do you feel like eating tonight? I'll pick you up and take you out for dinner, then drop you back off," Marcellus said. As he spoke, he had already seated himself in the car and signaled to the driver, who understood and drove towards the hospital.
