The next morning, Beryl woke up amidst the doctor's rounds. Opening her eyes, Wallis was already sitting by the bedside, taking care of Amir as he ate breakfast.
In a daze, Beryl called out, "Mom," but she was still half-asleep.
"You're awake." Wallis pointed to the eggs and bread on the table, "I bought breakfast for you. Wash up quickly and eat these."
Knowing that she had been tired these days, Wallis couldn't bear to wake her up in the morning.
Beryl nodded and quickly freshened up before sitting down at the table and eating her breakfast.
Amir looked at the faint dark circles under his daughter's eyes, feeling distressed, and sighed deeply, "Wallis, I think it's not a good idea for Beryl to stay in the hospital all the time. Why don't we let her go back to school and stay there for a while?"
Beryl had never lived in the school dormitory before, as she had been living off-campus for the convenience of her part-time job.
Wallis had originally thought of that, but since she found out about Beryl's relationship with Marcellus, she no longer felt at ease.
Seeing Beryl sleeping on such a small bed every day, she felt more distressed as a mother than anyone else. But she would rather her daughter be tired and suffer a little than let her go down the wrong path.
"She didn't arrange for accommodation at her school's side, and besides, the dormitories have time restrictions, so they don't allow entry late at night." Wallis didn't share her concerns about Marcellus with Amir, as she didn't want him to worry unnecessarily.
Now, the most important thing was for him to focus on recovering.
Amir still couldn't rest assured, "Then let Beryl go to Freya's place temporarily?"
