When the assistant told Marcellus the news, he was in a coffee shop in the suburbs, talking to the man sitting opposite him about the succession.
He was the most trusted person of Sir. Perkins and could be said to be his right-hand man. He knew almost everything about the Perkins Family, including the things about Marcellus's parents.
Back then, the matter had caused quite a stir. Many people had only heard of it, but very few people knew exactly what had happened inside.
Marcellus had seen this person a few times. His name was Carney. He was in his forties and Marcellus called him Uncle Carney with great respect.
No matter how close he was to Sir. Perkins, Marcellus was grateful to him from the bottom of his heart for his work for the Perkins Family for so many years.
"What did Sir. Perkins ask you to do this time?" Obviously, he knew Marcellus very well. He knew that if it weren't for the reason that he had to come, he wouldn't have come back.
However, he was really curious about the reason for Marcellus's compromise.
Marcellus didn't want too many people to know about the existence of Beryl, but he also understood that there was no need for him to hide it from Carney.
Even if no one knew, Carney would know. Perhaps it was Carney who had sent the information to Sir. Perkins.
Marcellus just laughed at himself and said, "It's just love."
"Love?" Carney was not too surprised. He just nodded with a meaningful smile. "It's normal for young people to be trapped by love."
"No." Marcellus didn't admit it and deliberately wanted to get rid of this matter. "My grandfather said every day that I had calluses on my ears for so many years and that I would come back sooner or later. I'm not young anymore."
Carney looked at the person sitting opposite him. "That doesn't seem like what you would say."
