Finding Love in the Boss’s Embrace After Divorce novel Chapter 290

Chapter 290 Being Overly Sentimental

As soon as he finished speaking, even Huston looked at him with a trace of surprise and bewilderment in his sharp eyes.

Evelyn felt that her head, which was already hot and swollen, was even heavier. “Matt, Grace is my best friend. If you do this,

1…”

Halfway through her sentence, she couldn’t go on. Both sides. were familiar acquaintances. Grace had been her close friend for many years, and Matt had provided her with considerable support at work. Saying something too extreme was difficult for her, so she had to leave it at that.

Seeing that her body was swaying unsteadily, Huston’s

fingers, which were on the side of his thigh, clenched tightly. He was afraid he would be unable to control himself and step forward to pull her into his embrace.

Matt sighed slightly. “Evelyn, this is between me and her. I’ll take care of it. I know you’re good friends, but I didn’t force her last night. It’s not as complicated as you think. I hope you won’t get involved, okay?”

Evelyn held her breath. “I know I shouldn’t interfere in this matter, and I’m not in a position to do so, but Grace is my best friend. If it’s just an accident for you, I hope it will be over.”

The office fell into a brief silence. The air seemed to have

frozen, and Evelyn could not even breathe. Suddenly, the man

sitting next to her moved. Evelyn unconsciously followed him

out of the corner of her eye. It was Huston who had moved her

legs.

His long, straight legs, wrapped in trousers, appeared even more powerful. He slightly spread his legs and straightened his upper body. His lips moved, and his voice was cold and ruthless. “If you know you shouldn’t meddle, then don’t meddle.”

His words carried three parts frustration and seven parts genuine concern for her well-being. Unfortunately, last night’s argument had left Evelyn in a state of hostility, rendering her unable to listen to anything he said. She only wanted to retort, “I told you, she is my best friend…”

Without waiting for her to finish, Huston interrupted her directly. “Best friend? Have you forgotten what happened before? Do you think she will appreciate it if you treat her

well?”

He was mocking her with what Maura had done before. Evelyn could hear it, but she was sad.

Everything in the past would always be a scar on her heart, and these words undoubtedly sprinkled salt on her wound.

In his heart, she deserved it. It was all her own fault.

Evelyn blinked her eyes rapidly, and all the emotions in
