Chapter 412 Don’t Blame Her for Being Ruthless
Was she so good that she could make him overcome the
wounds in his heart, change his attitude towards Mia, and
view her parents’ tragic fate rationally? It was not ingratitude. but a form of overcoming and maturity. This kind of change was making Mia start to feel afraid.
The favor her parents showed him was the most effective tool
she could use to manipulate him. If he became rational, then this tool would lose its meaning.
With the posture of pushing open the door, Huston
maintained his position. As Mia waited for his response, he replied coldly, “No matter whether she is good or not, it has nothing to do with you.”
Mia didn’t know how she got out of the bedroom. She only
knew that she was extremely humiliated. Huston drove her
out. Yes, she was driven out. She saw disgust in his eyes.
He hated sleeping with her.
This realization made Mia feel like she had fallen into an icy
cave. At this moment, it seemed that she truly understood how
www
vastly different her position was compared to Evelyn in
Huston’s eyes.
In his eyes, there was only Evelyn.
Mia smiled. “Well, let’s wait and see.” Since her pleas and compromises couldn’t make him change his mind, he shouldn’t blame herself for being ruthless!
After spending a night at home, the next day, Evelyn noticed a slight bluish tinge under her eyes when she woke up. Perhaps
it was because she hadn’t been home for so long that sleeping
in this bed, which she had slept in for over a decade, felt
somewhat unfamiliar.
The bed in the Royal Villa was softer than the one at home,
and she had already grown accustomed to it during the six months she had been living there.
Today was New Year’s Eve. Their whole family members were
going to have dinner together. In addition to Evelyn and her
parents, her two uncles and their family would be there. Her
grandmother had three sons, with Ben being the second eldest. The dining table would always be filled with a large group of people during such gatherings.
Dinner was arranged at a hotel not far from home. It wasn’t
particularly large, but it had a decent setting. Since it was close by, Evelyn and her parents decided to go ahead and
check out the menu in advance.
“This year, your uncle’s son is coming back. He has been abroad for two years, and he’s flaunting it this time. I heard he
passed the master’s program in economics over there,” said Lucy, shaking her head as if recalling something. Her tone
carried a hint of helplessness. “Your grandmother has always
favored your eldest uncle and him. I’m sure she’s overjoyed this year.””
Evelyn knew about Lucy’s situation in this family all these
years. When Lucy was young, she had suffered a lot. Evelyn had heard that her grandmother had only visited Lucy once
when Evelyn was born. She reached out and held her mother’s
weathered hand, comforting her with a tender voice, “Mom, I’m here with you.”.
“Alas.” Lucy sighed and didn’t want Evelyn to see the emotions
in her eyes. She turned to look out of the window and said, “Your father and I have been together for so many years. It doesn’t matter anymore.”
Evelyn didn’t know what to say to comfort Lucy, so she could
only hold her hand tightly.
At seven o’clock in the evening, members of the Shelton family
