Finding Love in the Boss’s Embrace After Divorce novel Chapter 956

Chapter 956 I Can't Let You Take the Risk

Evelyn put the cup aside and curiously took a look at it. It was a file of a lawsuit. She looked at the page number in the lower left corner, which had more than 100 pages.

"Is this the case you just took over?" After asking, she sighed with emotion. "What kind of case is it? Why is the file so long?"

"I haven't taken on this case yet, considering whether to accept it or not," Huston said, interrupted by her. The intense mental labor had indeed left him exhausted. He leaned back, bringing her hand to his lips, and gently kissed it.

"What's wrong? Are you not confident?"

"This is the first case I'm going to take over after I come back. It's very important and complicated."

"About what?"

When Huston met Evelyn's gaze, he hesitated to tell her the truth. After thinking for a moment, he pulled her into his arms and let her sit on his lap. He surrounded her from behind, put his right hand on the wireless mouse again, and showed her the key points of the file. "It's a case of cross-border smuggling."

"Cross-border?" It was rare for Evelyn to get involved in this kind of case. She continued to ask, "What smuggling?"

Unexpectedly, what Huston said next scared her out of her wits. "Guns."

Evelyn withdrew her gaze from the computer screen and turned to look at the man behind her. "Are you serious?"

Huston's black eyes were very calm. "I never joke about this kind of thing."

Evelyn's face turned somewhat pale, her concern evident. However, she tried to steady her emotions as best she could. "Huston, even if you don't take it, someone else will. Don't dwell on it like this."

"This case is different from any other one." Huston tried his best to explain the case's uniqueness to her, but it was obvious that she couldn't listen to it at all.

This case was dangerous in Evelyn's heart, and she could not watch him take the risk.

"I disagree with you taking this case. I understand your feelings, but I can't watch the person I love take risks."

"I may not necessarily face retaliation. There has been good management and control from higher-ups..."

Without waiting for him to finish, Evelyn stood up from his lap directly, and her tone became somewhat firm, "It's better to be safe than sorry."
