After all the medical staff had left, Jack, dressed in sterile garb, sat beside Mandy.
He grasped Mandy's cold hand and reassured her in a deep voice, "Everything's over now. I'm sorry I couldn't protect you this time."
Unfortunately, Mandy remained unconscious on the bed, unable to respond to him.
Time flew by, and Jack stayed steadfastly by Mandy's side, even taking leave from Joe.
At this point, Charlotte was still missing, but Joe understood Jack's feelings, urging him to take good care of Mandy.
After all, Mandy had once saved Charlotte's life.
The next morning, Mandy's fingers twitched slightly. Jack, who had been attentively watching her, became excited and softly said, "Mandy?"
In her current state, Mandy felt as if she was wandering through an empty, pitch-black void. She had no idea how long she had been walking or how long it would take to find another soul or destination in this darkness.
All she knew was that she couldn't remain here. She had to find a way to break free from this enveloping darkness.
No matter what she tried, Mandy couldn't dispel the engulfing darkness before her. She even heard a faint rustling sound, as if some terrifying creature lurked in the shadows.
Instinctively, Mandy took a step back.
Yet the darkness surrounded her from all sides, leaving no room to escape.
Just as Mandy was racking her brain on how to free herself from this oppressive blackness, a faint glimmer of light suddenly appeared.
