Never before had there been a moment when Joe felt his willpower tested to such an extreme. He knew that Charlotte's condition was off and loathed himself for being acutely aware of it.
Without hesitation, Joe plundered the air between Charlotte's lips and teeth, only releasing her reluctantly when she frowned uncomfortably.
Perhaps momentarily satisfied, the current Charlotte obediently leaned against Joe's shoulder and gently nuzzled against it.
Joe lowered his gaze, looking at his unrestrained impulses, and with a bitter smile, he dialed Vincent's phone number.
Vincent seemed to have anticipated the situation long before as he answered the call leisurely, "Do you need something?"
Joe rubbed the space between his eyebrows. "I think you're not interested in continuing to run your clinic."
Vincent exclaimed in a playful tone, "You said your girlfriend was in trouble, and I rushed over in a hurry to save her. In the end, why do I still get complaints? Truly, a man's heart is as fickle as the sea."
"I'll contact the lawyer right away," Joe sneered.
Vincent quickly called out to him, "You really don't know how to appreciate favors! I helped you, and you're repaying me like this? Isn't it just that she's unusually 'eager' for you right now?"
Joe narrowed his eyes, "So you really did something to her."
"I'm innocent!" Vincent denied quickly, "I'm a legitimate doctor. How could I do something like that?"
Joe clicked his tongue, and Vincent realized he couldn't drag it out any longer. He had to explain, "You should know what that special drug was originally used for, right? Besides making people addicted, it also has intense side effects, like a certain impulse being particularly obvious..."
Joe suddenly tensed up all over.
