Sitting in the car on the way back, both of them fell into a somewhat awkward silence.
Coincidentally, Officer Carter called at that moment, breaking the awkwardness between them.
"Miss Clinton, thank you for providing the lead!" The excited voice of Officer Carter came through, "We investigated that individual named Durke and indeed found something suspicious about him!"
Durke's company seemed glamorous on the surface, but their financial records were in a complete mess. He had intended to use Lisa to enter high society and attract investments. However, Lisa turned out to be unreliable. Just then, someone approached him, wanting to use his company's name for some "substance" business. In his confusion, Durke agreed without much thought.
Little did he know before he could even start selling, Lisa quietly stole a substantial amount, and she ended up getting caught by the police.
"These people are absolutely insane. They had around fifty kilograms of that drug in their possession! If it were to leak out, the consequences would be unimaginable." After sighing with amazement, Officer Carter hung up the phone.
Deep in thought, Charlotte looked at her phone.
"What's wrong?" Seeing her furrowed brows, Joe asked with concern.
Charlotte pondered for a moment. "How do you feel about me establishing a fund related to drug prohibition?"
The terrifying sensation of losing control over her body due to the drug last time was still vivid in her memory. It felt as if her entire being had turned into a numb, blank puppet, with all her thoughts beyond her control.
Merely experiencing that for a few hours was enough to leave Charlotte deeply shaken.
While she had Joe and Vincent by her side, what about others?
Those who were involuntarily or inadvertently exposed to this drug might also need avenues to help them.
After hearing Charlotte's words, Joe's expression grew more serious. "Of course, Jack has experience in this area. If needed, we can consult him."
