Joe received the profiles of several individuals; they were all mid-level figures within Halcyonland's criminal organization, not even considered top-ranking members. Yet, strangely, they were assigned a task worth 100 million dollars.
This reminded Joe of the Halcyonland business company that had transferred money to Ethan earlier. Could it be that, just like that business company, there were other masterminds pulling the strings behind these individuals?
Just then, a waiter entered with a file in hand.
"The DNA test results are ready," Dylan said, not opening the file but passing it directly to Joe.
Despite being just a few thin sheets of paper, the file felt surprisingly heavy in Joe's hand.
He furrowed his brow, glanced at Sharon, and slowly opened the file.
The results were not unexpected.
In fact, the moment Martha appeared in front of him, he had already guessed what the outcome would be.
At this point, Martha was brought over. As soon as she saw Joe, she walked quickly to his side, appearing quite frightened of the waitstaff in this place.
Joe furrowed his brow and whispered, "Do you remember who you are?"
"Hazel," Martha replied softly, and Joe shook his head. "Do you have any other name?"
"Another name?" Confusion appeared in Martha's eyes. "I don't."
Seeing this, Sharon finally understood.
Although it remained a mystery how Martha had survived the car accident initially, it was evident that she had lost her memory. She didn't recognize her son Joe at all.
"How did you end up here?" Joe asked in a deep voice.
Martha shrank back slightly, then suddenly looked up at Joe. "I was kidnapped and brought here!"
"Is she...?"
Sir Smith looked at Joe in disbelief. He would never have imagined that he would see Martha again one day.
Joe had no choice but to recount the process of meeting Martha and told Sir Smith, "Although we confirmed her identity with DNA, she has lost all her past memories and can't recognize who I am."
Sir Smith sighed deeply, a glimmer of hope rising in his eyes. "Since she's here, what about your father..."
Joe knew what he was thinking and shook his head with a slightly furrowed brow.
Right after confirming Martha's identity, he had ordered an investigation into the DNA left behind from the car accident, confirming that one of the bodies was indeed Ralph's.
A hint of disappointment appeared in Sir Smith's eyes.
