But now, Flora's lips curled into a smirk, her eyes narrowing with a sinister glint.
"I'm just waiting to see if I get to you first, or you get to me."
Each word, like a shard of ice, stabbed at Jillian's heart. Fear, or maybe something else, made Jillian stumble backward.
Flora was already striding away.
Cynthia and Eilies, not bothering with Jillian, hurried to catch up. Flora didn't say a word until they reached the dorm building. Her mood was foul.
"Flora, please don't let Jillian get to you. She's just got a foul mouth, not worth the energy!" Cynthia was nervous but didn't want to see Flora like this. Mustering courage, she tried to calm her down, "You've already given her a hit, right? If you're still mad, next time you see her, just tell her off, okay?"
She carefully pulled out some candies from her pocket. "Food is the best medicine when you're upset. Whenever I'm down, a bit of sugar always cheers me up! Here, have some candy, please don't be mad anymore, alright?"
Flora stayed silent, opening the dorm room door. Once inside, she turned on the air conditioner, took off her sun jacket, and plopped onto a chair. The cool air eased some of her irritation.
Only then did she look up at Eilies and Cynthia standing in front of her. Eilies held a glass of water, while Cynthia, with candies in one hand and a small fan in the other, was fanning her.
Seeing Flora look up, both of them smiled. Eilies, not much of a smiler, looked a bit awkward. Cynthia's chubby cheeks squished together when she smiled, looking irresistibly cute, tempting Flora to pinch them.
So she did.
